Recently, I hooked up my old Kreimer label Atari 2600 Jr., and after 17 hours worth of Ms. Pac Man and Defender, I'm so tired I'm playing Sims 2: Castaway for DS. I mean, has anybody here ever played one of their systems so much they got sick of it for a few months? Last one it happened with before my Atari was my Game Gear, and before that it was NES, amd before that it was Playstation...

It has happened to me with games, but not the console itself.
Back in the day before I knew how to fix such things, I got so tired of trying to get NES cartridges to work that I gave up on the system for months and resorted to emulation. I suspect you may hear this from a few people.

I've gotten bored with some consoles due to lack of games sometimes, but that's about it. I go in cycles, 3 consoles hooked up at a time, and I rotate. Right now it's Nintendo 64, Genesis, and SNES. The SNES is on it's way out, replacing with NES. Genesis I'll probably switch with Saturn once I get some more games for it.

My cycle is usually Nintendo, Microsoft, PC, Sony. Stuck to it since 3rd grade, and I'm not letting it go. Ever. It's the only system I've found to work for me when at the PC stage- 7 hours of Snes9x, anyone? ;)

Ah speaking of cycles I have one of my own. Right now it's ps2,ps1,Famicom,and N64. I only keep the PS1 because my PS2 is moded and won't play my ps1 discs. I'm thinking of putting the famicom and N64 consoles away soon.

It's somewhat funny because for me it's a matter of the PCs are always setup and good to go so I use them frequently for surfing the web, research, and chat, and thus gaming. Emulation doesn't appeal to me nearly as much as it did years ago, probably due to my extensive number of PC titles and so many console games available on the shelves. But for the last year I've had consistently hooked up:
Saturn
Atari 5200
Dreamcast
Nintendo
Master System
Gamecube
All the other systems are in the closets collecting what little dust floats in there. The most frequent consoles I use as of late are 5200 and NES. It's not a nostalgia thing though since I never grew up with all of these games, it's more of fulfilling my enjoyment of gaming and taking in what work was put into entertainment for the masses. So when I do step back from the computer I’ll sometimes end up playing a bunch of runs on the consoles. It fills the gap between extensive and in-depth PC games and places me in easier and quick gaming spurts, similar to that of the arcades. Due to my arcades sitting in a non-conditioned environment garage it can be too hot or cold to play anytime out there, so those two systems fill that gap. I have been slowly getting that urge to really dedicate myself at beating some RPGs on my shelf for the Saturn and PS1, so once that takes over I’m sure I’ll be in real deep concentration playing those and ignoring my other gaming machines. Just waiting for that dam to break. :)

I got tired of my Saturn...mostly because I just didn't have that many games for it I was that crazy about. That's about the only instance I can think of, though. No, I did also tire of my PS2 for awhile...but now I'm back to playing it all the time again.
