bought a taito space invader machine here in the uk.

when powered on this is the pic i get when playing the game:

you will notice the high score is faded, the top rows of invaders also.the second player score is actualy more brighter.

basicly where the dots should be the correct size they are smaller therefore the pic there looks weaker.

i pulled the roms from the board and powered on and this is what i get:

sorry the pic is on its side, but,if you think of the pic being tilted to the right and match it to the top pic you can see where the dots are smaller and bigger and how it matchs the actual game pic.

i already consulted someone on net, they seem to be more leaning towars a monitor prob, perhaps the monitor or the control board (where all the switchs are to adjust the settings of the monitor)

what are anyones thoughts here?

thanks in advance.

Based on the screen and nothing else, it would appear to be either a monitor issue or a power supply issue.

Not sure why you'd go through the trouble of pulling game ROMS when the game was running just fine. When troubleshooting, take the easiest routes first, then move on to other stuff.

yes i took the hard route but,i got more experience at handling the boards and i cleaned the rom legs.

there are 4 rom chips and i have noticed and noted down the numbers of them.2 were MB8516 and the other 2 were HN462716.

thanks for your reply.now i wandering if the monitor needs a recap or if it neeeds replacing.

i dont even have a clue where to find a space invader monitor here in the uk.

i pulled the lead off the game board and yes,i get white screen.you can even see the screen burn on it.where you see the s real small in the first post of score for player 2 you cant see it on the screen where the rest have burned to the monitor.

whats funny is i have not played space invaders for ages, since i was a teen, now i am 40+,anyway,once you clear the first level on level 2 the invaders seem a little too close to the bases for comfort.

also, its supposed to be space invaders part 2,but,it says part4 on the credits when you dont play it.its got 4 rom chips and two are different from the other two.
