atm i have got the arcade model with 256mb inbuilt,, i have around 40mb left.
what im looking at doing is on friday buy another 256mb memory unit to go into the memory slot.. but my question is. when i use this memory card and start to save game saves onto it.. is it going to affect my other memory, or will it have any effect on my xbox live?? . or can i just plug it in and just use it like i normally would with my internal memory??
hope this made sense .. :D
thankyou ! :D
it should just work as 2 drives... I bought the arcade unit too with the 256mb then later bought a 20 gig hard drive and now when a game ask me where I want to save my data it gives me the option to save to either the memory card or the hard drive...
at first I didnt really care about downloading games from live so the memory card was good enough for me, but when I wanted dlc for some of my games I decided to get the 20 gig (which is actual only 13 gigs why didnt they just call it a 15 gig)

It will see it as a separate location and shouldn't effect the on board memory.

just so you know, new 20gb drives can be had for around $30 now. used for less.

Because it really is a 20 GB drive. Certain parts of the hard drive aren't available for the user to save content, but for the system to use as cache for loading data. Part of the hard drive is used to store the data for the Xbox1 backwards compat files.

When I first turned on my 120 gig 360 it had 103 availble gigs of space. Wtf???? Why did they need to use 17 gigs for hardware installments?

A 20 gig or 120 gig hd isn't really that size, just like any PC hard drive.
The 360's hard drives have even less usuable space after that because space is reserved for game caching, a small section is reserved for the Xbox 1 emulator, etc.
