SMS Space Harrier unlimited lives cheat?

I was at my brothers house tonight looking through a little book that actually came with a Sega Power mag (I believe?) and it had a tip for unlimited lives in Space Harrier. It said to "Enter eleven X's at the Game Over screen where you can enter your name". Now, you can only enter three initials, so we thought maybe just get a high score a few times and get 11 X's in there. No dice. Then we figured maybe fill the entire scoreboard with X's. No dice again. Then tried hitting X eleven times before the timer ran out...still didn't work. Is this just a bogus tip? It isn't listed in the DP guide, so I'm assuming it is. Anybody know?

Yeah, there's alot of codes in circulation for the SMS that don't work, or are written so poorly that you'll NEVER get them to work.

that very Space harrier cheat you mention is listed on my "bad codes" page.

Clint Dyer is the man to ask. I think he wrote all those codes. I assume it worked on at least one version of the game (maybe the Japanese version) or he woldn't have wrote it down.

You know, I did notice some of the other games listed in the book were Euro only releases. Perhaps this trick works on the European Space Harrier. Oh well..
