Ninku (Sega Saturn)

Has anybody ever given this game a try? I like 2D fighters a lot, especially the elaborately animated ones.
It looks extremely pretty by the two videos on Youtube, but I have no idea how it plays.
For those that have played, I have a few questions:

-What is the fighting system like?
-Is there a story mode?
-Are there any extra characters or unlockables?

Oy I haven't played Ninku in YEARS. ;)

From what little I remember, it was entertaining. I had considered picking it up but never got around to it. I was at an anime convention and someone had it with them in our hotel room. I didn't play it for very long so I have no idea if there's a story mode or hidden characters/unlockables.
