Ok, this is the second time this has happened to me. My PSP generally has no problem reading UMDs, but once in a while I'll get one that simply won't work. These discs will be in prefect condition. My first one was God Of War and it would get to the screen right before the main menu and then nothing would happen. In that case i just took it back and exchanged it and had no problem. This time i have Metal Gear Solid and it won't read at all. You can hear it trying to read but nothing happens. It was a used game but in perfect condition. The store doesn't have another copy and I really want to play it. I read that sometime the center of the disc will get loose, so i carefully took it apart and put a small piece of scotch tape over the center. Didn't make a difference. I also noticed that my PSP's laser wasn't all the way over to the left in the starting position so i rectified that and still it won't read. Again, I have tons of other UMDs that work 100 percent of the time and the ones that don't work have no scratches or smudges at all. Does anybody have any other advice? Thanks in advance.

it could be possible that the discs were warped by heat.

Mmm, sure doesn't look like it. I took the disc out of the casing to check for any possible imperfections and found none.

There can still be a problem with the disc. The fact that other discs work proves the UMD drive is fine.

It's like the Dreamcast. Some games just didn't work despite the GD-ROM drive being ok.
