I was wondering if anybody could recommend a good component to VGA converter to allow me to play my original Xbox and Wii on my computer monitor. My monitor also accepts DVI and HDMI inputs, but I suspect converting to those standards would be much more difficult/expensive.
Basically I am looking for something cheap, but also something with as low a latency as possible. Preferably the whole conversion would take place in the analog domain.

You could buy a cable for them, cables for both show up on eBay.
Search "xbox vga -360" & "wii vga" to find the cables. No idea what quality the cables are, but I think that this should satisfy your requirements of low latency and analog conversion.

None of these systems output VGA natively, so those cables must be doing some sort of conversion.

I would rather have a good universal converter that would do the same thing. Any suggestions?

Actually no. I have a cable like that. There are some VGA ports that support a component signal input on certain pins, and all that does is connect the correct pins together. I need a converter, because the VGA signal is actually different than a component signal.
I've been using this one and it has worked great for me.

I use this one for everything. Wii, PS2, Xbox and PS3. Even my dvd player looks good on it. http://www.hdboxpro.com/eng/shop.htm You can find similar ones on ebay for cheaper but this one rocks for me!
