View Full Version : Can you play as MagiKoopa in the Mario Kart 64 prototype?

I saw a screenshot of an early version of the game that had Magikoopa as a playable character, and I was wondering, assuming such a prototype exists, whether or not is is possible to play as him.

They should've kept Magikoopa rather than put in Donkey Kong.
Does anyone know if you can play has him though? The question still hasn't been answered it seems.

That's because the question doesn't make any sense. If there's a build with a playable version of magikoopa, then yes he's playable.
There isn't, however, a publicly available version of such a rom.

Its most likely the playable version of the game with magikoopa was overwritten with the Donkey Kong newer version somewhere in production so the chances of ever playing as Magikoopa is pretty slim.
Yeah I saw some footage at one point where Magikoopa was driving around the course, racing, with the other characters.
Even if the build with Magikoopa was still in existance, it would be very unlikely that it would slip out of Nintendo's clutches, unfortunately for those of us who would like to try the game with Magikoopa.

Its not like game companies are in the business of releasing prototype builds to the public either :(
God, what do we all find so fascinating about the things in games that we cant have? The things that were once but arent anymore...
