I was in a local shop tonight looking for a game, which the owner did not have. He did say, however, that he was getting Ghostbusters for both the 360 and PS3 tomorrow (5/11/2009). This is five days before the scheduled release. I put a pre-order in and he said come back tomorrow after 10AM. I was wondering, if I pick this up tomorrow and start playing, can I get trophies? Or will trophies not register with PSN until he 16th? I guess I could wait and find out, but I'd rather not start playing and have to start over.
thanks

Believe it when you see it, the locals near me never get new releases until Thursday (as in, two days after the chains already have it).

ncsx.com has it as of today, and they're in NY... I could have ordered it today and had it tomorrow

I checked out futureshop.ca to get more info ie. pricing for the different variants of the game... and saw two different editions listed for the games, one set published by Atari and the other, by Sierra, with a $5 price difference between the editions and a different street date (one says June 16, the other, June 30).
I'm confused... :P

According to Wikipedia, there are various companies involved (Sierra, Atari, etc) and the game will be different on the various platforms (Xbox & PS3 vs PS2). Sounds pretty cool.
As for trophies, hopefully they work tonight... let's hope that the game actually comes in too. Although, I don't have any reason to believe otherwise.

You can get trophies whenever you have the game, the official release date is irrelevant.

Yep, I have been playing and getting some trophies. Man, this game is cool. Everyone always says that games made from movies are crap, but I think this one might change that...

Too late. Scarface the World is Yours beat them to it, atleast lately.
Games like Batman, Gremlins 2, Batman Returns, etc, etc, etc, etc, even beat Scarface. Scarface is the best movie game though.

Cant agrue with you on that since i havnt played it. But I do agree with the batman and batman returns on the nes and snes those games kicked serious ass all the way.
I honestly think Ghostbusters will be on that list of good movie to game adaptations especialy since this isnt a straight rip off of the movie just continuing the story line that makes it stand out right there. If im right scareface died in the movie and the game is a what if he hadnt kind of situation? I maybe wrong about that but the GB game fits as a solid peice into the story line.

Go get The Chronicles of Riddick for XBox (or its 360 big brother with the Dark Athena expansion pack). IMO the best movie based game i've ever played, and that was out well before Scarface was released.

Or Goldeneye for the N64. I have Butcher Bay but still haven't played it yet.

I was going to mention that. Same creators. Scarface is my favorite, though.

Am I the only one afraid of the fact that any game recieving such massive hype has a good chance of being a disaster like Spore?

I like it so far, but that is my personal taste. It is very fun, and well done. The dialog is funny (quips and banter)... and, there are other actors from the original movie besides the Ghostbusters. It feels kind of "vintage" to me. Then again, when the movie came out I was like 7, and I would watch it at least once a week on VHS! I guess I am biased, but I think people will find it enjoyable!

I was at Walmart today and noticed that they're going to have an "Exclusive Proton Pack Download Code" included with your purchase.
Does anyone know if it'll just unlock something you can get in the game?
