View Full Version : 16F630 chip for Saturn?

Just acquired a sega saturn recently and I've been looking at some imported games. The cleanest region mod I've seen uses this IC but it has to be programmed. I tried searching for 16F630 on here but it didn't turn up any results. Does anyone know where you can purchase one that has already been?

It is to the site of the guy who created the switchless mod. On it, he mentions that he may be willing to sell a preprogrammed PIC if he has any. Couldn't hurt to contact him. If he doesn't have any, he may be able to put you in contact with someone who does.

Already tried eBay. That's generally the first place I go but failed to turn up anything. I sent an email to the creator yesterday. Hopefully that will turn up some leads. Thanks guys

If that fails, the PIC is cheap enough that you could pick one up and hopefully find someone on one of the site who could program it for you. The code is free to download, so the programming is the hard part.

Actually, there's another switchless mod around and the IC required is much easier to find.

I was looking at that one this morning, but I decided for now to just use an Action Replay as my switchless mod.

Fahlim, thanks for that link. I had seen that one first but it seems to only swap between us and Japanese titles. I haven't found any european titles I was drawn to but having the option might be nice. I might dig around some books and see if I can find an IC that'd act similiar to the 16F630. If not ima try the gamesx mod.

I had gotten in touch with Seb last month. He said he was going to put an order in for some chips. So i'ma just wait it out I think
