I'm doing a project and I want to have AV output from an small TV Fun Pong system. I know that it's possible to do an Atari AV mod. Would it be possible to get AV out from this system? I've opened it and it does have an RF modulator, and from what I've read the circuit converts one video signal from the chip into RF. Can anybody here direct me on how to get AV from this sort of system if it's possible? I think it would just involve soldering the proper wires for composite onto the board, but I have no idea where to solder them.

It uses the AY-3-8500-1 Pong chip if that's any help.

It's probably doable, you just have to find the video encoder chip datasheet and tap the composite signal from it.

The system's circuit board uses an AY-3-8500-1 Pong chip, resistors, capicitors, and transistors. There is no video encoder chip. I read some schematics for a Pong game using this chip, but it differs from the actual TV Fun circuit board.

Should help.

Thank you, now I have these schematics with the RF and I have another, different circuit with AV on it (from the Sony Watchman+Pong mod if you're wondering). I will compare the two and come back after looking them over. When I'm finished I will probably post instructions on how to AV mod any AY-3-8500-1 Pong system with AV for those interested (probably 3 people haha).

Wait what? The video signal is split in half?! Left and right players are drawn on two separate pins and combined into one video signal?

Woah, now THAT's some really old school.

Can you just grab the signal from the RF modulator, kind of like the Intelli mod? The only other thing you need to grab is 5v to power the circuit.

I figured out how to do it last night. You need to connect the main composite signal to where all of the chip's output's meet and you need to connect the composite's ground to the RF modulator's ground. I'll post pics to illustrate and complete instuctions on how to do this soon.
