Trying to move these out so we can make room. Clocks are 9" from end to end. Matte finish high quality prints. Only have 1 each left. This is the only run of these clocks, no more will be made. I do NOT do custom clock orders, go to Sniderman for those.

I bought 4 clocks from him in December, 3 for others and 1 for me. These are different clocks. I don't see how this is messed up.

Also I am NOT taking orders or doing custom clocks for anyone, I had these made for my website launch and trying to get rid of the rest of them. I am in no way trying to take Tim's business away or anything, just selling what I have left.

If you don't want to buy one then don't thread crap. I don't even see what the problem here is, it's not like Tim is the only person making video game clocks in the world. And how are these ripped off? I made these with intent to only see a limited run of 15 clocks on my site and these are what I have left. I'm not coming in here trying to taking over Tim's brainchild.

I've sold consolized MVS units here but no one jumped in saying that there's already one guy who makes them here.

GAC, no offense, and I am not trying to get into any drama here, but it might be a good idea if you could explain what it is that Xian Xi is doing wrong. Not just for his benefit (I don't think he knows what he is supposed to be doing wrong), but also for the edification for the rest of us.

But if he supplied the art to Sniderman, how is he ripping him off?

If the mere contention is that one guy sells clocks on this site, so we don't need any more, it might be a good idea if you could refer us to whatever rule there exists on this matter so none of us know not to violate it. I am still trying to understand what is being done wrong here.

I don't really think this is appropriate at all. It makes your argument look stronger when you call Xian Xi "Kid Rock" (someone who people many people detest) and Sniderman "Lynrd Skynrd" (a group that is generally revered), but the simile just isn't right.

This would more like...say...if you want to compare it to music...

Kid rock writes a song and wants to have it recorded. Problem is, he's no good at guitars, production, singing, or anything like that. But he likes the song enough so that he wants to get it out there, so he pays rock Gods Lynrd Skynrd to record it for him.

Some time later, Kid Rock gets a little better at making music (ha!) and he decides to record his own song and sell it. He does, and then Skynrd fans come out and say "Lame! He's copying and profiting off of Skynrd's work," and then try to run him out of town.

You can poke holes in my simile, I'm sure, but the fact of the matter is that it's Xian Xi's art and Sniderman doesn't have a monopoly on clocks.

Sidenote:

1. Theres nothing wrong with competition. It's a major part of capitalism. It promotes better products and better pricing.
2. I think both Xian Xi and Sniderman stand on a shaky ground when they make these things. They're both making products containing logos and characters that they don't own.

making clocks with pictures isnt an idea you or anyone else owns the rights to.

i was pretty sure digital press was in america and not communist china.

Why is there this impression among the feeble of you that DP is a government owned organization? The "clock guy" is a friend of the site's owner. Naturally if a competitor steps forward with these more expensive, clearly inferior knock-offs, it's going to raise a few eyebrows.

then the marketplace forums need a disclaimer that friends of the site hold monopolies on custom illegal wares for sale.

Naturally if a competitor steps forward with these more expensive, clearly inferior knock-offs, it's going to raise a few eyebrows.

clearly inferior, how so? knock-offs? neither person manufactures the clocks they're selling. it comes down to the quality of the print out (of copyrighted material neither party owns the rights to) and XX's would appear to be higher quality prints.

DP is Joe Santulli's site, and he calls the shots. That said, I doubt that Joe would want to give the impression of favortism that "if you are a friend of mine, you can sell X, but no one else can."

By your analogy, if a friend of Joe's is selling NES's on this site, then all other members are forbidden to sell NES's on this site because they would be competing with Joe's friend. I don't think Joe would condone such a favortist, hypocritical double standard, and I can't imagine why anyone else would either. It would certainly hurt this site's image as a "community of collectors." Otherwise, just rename it "a community of Joe & Friends." This site is better than that.

That being said, Xian Xi has claimed that he has provided the artwork for Sniderman's clocks (a claim that Sniderman has not refuted or claimed to be false). Thus, it is is bad taste to suggest that Sniderman can sell clock's with Xian Xi's, but Xian Xi can't. Sniderman doesn't have a patent on clocks, and doesn't hold the copyright rights to the artwork. So what's the problem?

Let me be clear; I don't have anything against Sniderman or his clocks, and I am not attacking him at all. However, I don't think Xian Xi should be attacked either.

This thread should have been drama-free from the beginning. Like any other sales thread, it should be "if you like the clocks, buy the clocks. If you don't like them, don't buy them."
