So my friend came over the other night. He's a gamer but I left him in the dust years ago. In the past we have had "tournaments" at my house with Atari 2600, Nes, we even had a shitty Gameboy game tournament, we've done Mame at his house multiple times and they have been fun. Well we decided to walk around my neighborhood and play arcade games. What ever ones we ran into. Highest points in the game gets 1 point. At the end who ever won the most games is the champion.
So we walked out to the main St. (University) and the first stop was a Laundry Mat. Inside they had Street Fighter II Championship Edition and a Neo Geo cabinet with 4 games. I think the 1st Metal Slug, Bust-A-Move, Aero Fighters 2 and something Else. So I whooped his ass at SF. Him being a master of everything Metal Slug schooled me. He got to the last level. And I took Bust-A-Move and he got Aero fighters. There's one problem with doing this with the Neo Geo's your score disappears fast and never reappears. So the we were off walking checking any place me might think had any arcade games. Bars, Liquor stores, Laundry mats, 7-11's ect. We where not finding as many as we had hoped. This shows the sad state of the arcade industry of today. Compared to when I was in high school and earlier.
2 to 2
We checked a Mexican food place and they had Marvel Vs. Capcom and another Neo Geo cabinet. But this was no regular NeoGeo Cabinet it had 100 games in it. This was the score of the night. You had to hold the 1 player button for 5 seconds to see the game select screen. It did have multiples of some games and seemed to have way to many King of Fighters. I've never really like KoF. So there we played Double Dragon Plus a wak ass DD fighting game, Robo Army (I think this was a beatem up were you were a robot), Captain Tomaday (this is kinda twin bee or stinger or Parodius cartoony shooter, fun!), Top Hunter, Prehistoric Isle 2, and Neo Mr. Do. I won the first 3 and Prehistoric Isle 2. Him being a mold master won Mr. Do and we kind tied on top Hunter.
6 to 3
We walked on for about another hour but never ran into anything. On the way back we stopped in the Mexican Food place and played the Mvs.C with him barely beating me. In the end the score was 7 to 4. So I am the 2009 arcade champion!
The whole idea came from just getting out and having a good time. Doing something I wouldn't do regularly. And yes people thought we where weird righting scores down and talking about some championship. I had a great time. You should try this in your neighborhood.
Thanx Dave, but I whooped your ass and yes I am the 2009 Arcade Champion! At least in my head.
Thanx :hail:RASK1904:hail:
