As some know I was able to puchase a empty PS3 and 360 kiosks from Circuity city.

Recently I sold the 360 kiosk to someone and with the money got a PS3 for my own enjoyment. I was more partial to the PS3 kiosk because of the features it contained along with the system. It was also my most complete system only missing the tv and PS3. Now having the PS3 I set out to finish something I started awhile go.

I put my 32inch KDL-4000 up on a normal tv bracket and put that one on the TV bracket of the Kiosk. It is amazingly Solid. I'm pretty excited! I'm pretty sure I know what's going in my dorm room next year~

I'm not really sure if this is the correct area for this.. it's close enough. Feel free to move if needed! THX.

So there's two PS3s in there? I assume the one on display is a non-working system?

The top PS3 (the one in the clear display case) is just a shell. The real PS3 is locked deep inside as shown by those pics.

Fun thing, those things are just empty PS3 shells. Guessing for the 40gb. IT has all the proper RF shielding and it also has the board for the power buttons.

My first thought: "So that's how they open... a HINGE!"

My second thought: "Enjoy your PS3 oven. I really don't trust these things for adequite cooling."

Seriously, my PS3 starts maxing out the fans just sitting in my entertainment center. It was in the same shelf as my stereo receiver (which doesn't run that hot at all), and I even removed the door of the entertainment center so it didn't overheat, but the fans still cranked up after an hour or so. Same with my 360 in the same area but about 2 feet higher. I recently moved both to the open and airy shelf above my TV, and they run a lot cooler. I haven't paid much attention to them recently, but the first PS3 kiosk I ever saw was running its fans at full, and it was warm to stand near. The second one I saw was frozen. The key is open air.

I actually tried to buy the dummy unit from my local Circuit City, but they said that they go back to the MFG. They wouldn't even let me make an offer. Of course, I didn't ask about the whole kiosk.

It's definitely a neat looking setup, just don't break your neck to look at that screen. Some nice low chairs or bean bags would do nicely.

And about that hinge... do you seriously have to open it up to swap games?

There are separate fans for the actual PS3. Have you ever been next to one of those units when its on? Those fans that are there to prevent the machine from going all RRoD are pretty loud .

I thought they were there as an emergency jetpack in case of trouble. It sure seems like they'd have enough lift...

I've noticed that my PS3 fans work harder during the summer and since it has been hella hot outside recently, my fans have been kicking into high gear the past week. So it can depend on the area you live in and how cool it is in your house. So if it's generally cool in your area the fans won't work as hard and if it gets scorching hot outside all the time you can expect the fans to work harder. All I have in my room is a ceiling and floor fan + the heat outside and I have one hot PS3.
