I've looked on Wikipedia and searched it on Google and could not find a answer. I've also searched the forums nothing here either. So I guess I'm going to start a list of all 3rd person shooters for the last gen systems meaning (Gamecube,Playstation 2 and Xbox). The title could be for one system or for all the systems as long as it's a third person shooter.

The reason for starting this is I just like the feel and look (for that matter) of 3rd person shooters over 1st person shooters.

Metal Arms:Glitch in the System
Rogue Trooper
Reservoir Dogs
Giants:Citizen Kabuto
MDK 2: Armageddon
Fur Fighters 2: Viggo's Revenge
Advent Rising

That's all I could remember off hand. If anyone could help, that would be great!

Everyone needs Rogue Trooper.

Need.

It's not long and it's not that difficult, but it is so. fucking. rad.

edit - oh, and to actually contribute:
- Ruff Trigger (lol)
- Ratchet & Clank series, though mostly Up Your Arsenal. It's essentially MDK3, while the previous two games had a bit more emphasis on platforming. I'd possibly include the second, but not the first (due to its lack of a strafe button and higher priority of platforming over the shooting).
- Possibly Jak II and 3
- SOCOM series
- Psi-Ops
- The Suffering and The Suffering: Ties That Bind

Halo, Black, Killzone, Timesplitters, Unreal Tournament(crap on PS2,) and Quake 2 or 3(Dreamcast, not sure which number.)

I'm not a FPS fan so I only listed the ones that were well known,

Just to let you know Kupomogli those are 1st person shooters which means you're viewing what the character is viewing.

3rd person shooters are games where you're seeing the character you're playing as.

A big thumbs up to Armed and Dangerous, then there's the also Xbox-exclusive Unreal Championship 2: The Liandri Conflict which was designed from the ground up to be a third-person fragfest, including some jumping and melee combat. I liked it well enough.

The Star Wars Battlefront games are also third-person shooters, albeit with a large-scale battle / multiplayer emphasis.

Quake III on Dreamcast does indeed have "body view," as it calls third-person view. I've been playing it enough and disliking this particular mode. Quake was never meant to be like that... >_<

Are we referring to a specific type of shooter, or just any third-person game where you fire projectiles? By that definition, Ikaruga fits (:P). I just played a few minutes of Zombie Revenge on Dreamcast, which uses guns as a main weapon, but it's probably not the aiming system you're thinking about, it's more of a beat-em-up. The Armored Core series comes to mind, but while it has the kind of aiming system you're referring to, it's not exactly a pure shooter.

One that comes to mind and fits solidly is Dirge of Cerberus.

What counts as a third-person shooter? Does Tomb Raider count, or are you only looking for pure action without adventure elements?

I guess I'm looking for 3rd person games with some sort of projectile or gun.

Tomb Raider counts as she carries guns.

Brute Force for the Xbox comes to mind. I didn't think it was that good, but it was third-person with guns.

Also, I have to super-second Rogue Trooper. That game is awesome because of how you can work with the troooper's sentient equipment and set up traps and things. It's actually one of the top comic book games I found when I went on a quest to play all of the comic book games for the last gen systems.

When I think "Third Person Shooter." I basically think of an FPS pulled out to where you can see your guy. That means it has a reticle for aiming, not just a lock on system like in a lot of games. That's just my own personal definition, though.

If Tomb Raider qualifies, then these games can also qualify for the list:
PS2 Blood Will Tell (upgrades are needed for the shooting ability)
GCN Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem (several characters can use firearms)

And if you want to include games for portable last-gen systems:
GBA Monster House (platformer with water guns)

- total overdose
- mercenaries
- the punisher
- cold fear

I'm more of a fps fan. Most of my 3rd person games are more adventure or beat-em-ups

Oops. Yeah, I know what FPS and TPS games are. I don't know why I ended up putting FPS games(I even listed below that I'm not a fan of FPS games so I'd list the most well known ones.)
