I got a SMS off eBay, and it arrived today.
I plug everything in correctly and turn it on, and nothing. The Line 2 thing comes up on the TV, and flickers, but the game doesn't come on.
I tried blowing on everything, unplugging/replugging the cords, and changing the power supply.
I tried the channel switch, I tried different channels on the TV, and nothing works.
The RF switch is not an option.
I don't have an RF cable....My Genesis came with an AV cable, and I use a Famiclone for my NES games, also with an AV cable.
I hate RF. AV is easier.
Using an official Sega power supply..
The only sound I get is a weird humming noise...

Does it work with no game? Lots have built in titles. I'd have this problem when it was having problems reading the game sometimes.

I think what he is doing is plugging it into the TV via an RCA from the RF adapter plug.

no, i think he is using the non-RF port that spits out AV. I would have to suggest just trying the RF even though you hate it much to see if maybe there is a malfunction in your cord/Din9 port on your SMS. It should at least bring up the Sega logo and then get all funky if it is the game slot on the fritz.
