Does anyone have pictures or info on the Sega Genesis modem? No I'm not talking about the xband, but the modem module that came out when the genesis was first released. I remember seeing pictures of it ages ago, I know it plugs in the back, how many games were released for it? It seems so obscure!

Yes, I did a search on the net, and couldn't find anything! @_@

I've not seen much about Genesis modems... I believe that there was one released in Japan and I have seen a couple of Japanese games that have the modem link icon on them. I think Advance World War was one of them.

The only other modem device I know of is a Tec Toy produced modem that was available for a short while in Brazil so that Genesis owners could conduct their internet banking through the console (how bizarre is that!!!)

I know you're talking about the "Tele-Genesis Modem", we actually reported on this in a very early issue of Digital Press (lke issue #4!) but it was never released. There should be pictures of this in gaming magazines circa 1991.

Yikes. It makes me cringe when things are presented as historical fact but read like they're written by a teenager. What's with the unnecessary bash on the GameLine? Oh. Right. Because it's TOO OLD to count.

Feh.

I think you're reading too much into that, DP. I took it more like it was just an easy way to take a swipe at AOL, but whatever. The guy that wrote that is a retro-motherfucker all day long.

I thought that might be the case but then why mention that anyone who's played it is "50 years older than me"? It's inane.

It was an attempt at humor unless I'm very much mistaken. Every comedian has an off night.

Us old guys who remember the VCS as a 'state of the art' system don't like being dismissed because of our age. :hmm:

Hrm... I do contribute a bit to that site and I know Scoots well. I know the author a bit so I'm willing to cut him a bit of slack but I am given the same impression DP has. It's annoying. Apparently I'm somewhere in at least my mid 60s.
