Montezuma's Revenge Indian Rope Trick (Sega Master System)

I discovered this trick for SMS Montezuma's Revenge. I couldn't find any reference to it so sorry if it's already documented but if not I thought other people might like to know this this little cheat for this great game.

I don't know if it works on actual hardware though so if anyone has the ability to test it out that would be great. It would probably require a modification to the controller though since you have to press up and down at the same time.

Basically I found that if you press up while climbing down a rope, you'll climb up and then up into the air, through the ceiling, and into a new room. This allows you to do all sorts of cool things such as getting to different rooms easier and even getting to the treasure room really quickly letting you get to higher levels without much trouble.

You can actually get to the treasure room right from the rope on the very first screen but you'll keep falling over and over once there. The "better" way is to climb up into the inventory or score box and then jump. It'll take you to a new room and eventually the treasure room.

Anyways...have fun and play the game without cheating as well. It's really fun.

My sms is currently in storage and I think I have to climb a rope and enter a new room the R.O.D. is kind of crowded these days. Nice find.

Here's a video I made of the trick in action. These are the fastest shortcuts I found to the treasure room. The first only works on the 1'st level. The second works on every level I tested it on though.
