The JPN PS2 version sucks. Dreamcast version is the best home version that isn't AES, or MVS for that matter.

I loved the dc version I still have I think around here somewhere but the idea of online play and achievements means I'll be buying this :) wednesday should be a fun day! 10 bucks is a great price to compared to physical copies even on DC and ps2

DC version is the worst one. The game has to constantly load the voices from the disc so the sound is always out of sync, and probably kills your DC laser faster. I never play it after getting it on PS2.

THIS. I own Garou on the DC but never play it because of this.

Agreed, I remember when the DC version was released. I was all excited not to have to pick up an MVS version. I was more than happy to sell the DC version and pony up the dough for the MVS version after all the problems I had with it.

Garou Mark of the Wolves was rated for the PS3 awhile ago so it's probably still coming.
I think I missed seeing that! Where did you hear about it?

This is good news. I didn't know this was coming.
I'll wait for a PSN release though. All my other fighting games are playable on my PS3, and that's where my fighter sticks are.

Nevermind :(. I skimmed through the article so read it all wrong.
Case in point: An Xbox Live Arcade release of Garou: Mark of the Wolves, and a PlayStation Network release of Gunstar Heroes.
So yeah. It was rated for the 360 awhile ago, not the PS3.

This is one of those games I distinctly remember seeing on store shelves all the time but never buying...then regretting that decision years later. Oh, to have purchased this or Suikoden II sealed, new for $29.99.
$9.99 just might be the right price.

I bought Suikoden 2 well before it had the price drop to 19.99. If only I knew it'd be as expensive as it is now I'd have bought them all up.

Yeah 10 bucks is a really sweet price on this. Is it just me though or does it not look as good as the DC version? It plays pretty well even online but ping can be high only had a few sub 100 ping matches. I'll be on off and on here and there name on live is jdotaku

The greatest beat-off in history, and my 360 is on the verge of the final, fatal RRoD.
Damn.

The net code for this is better then expected. I just play 120 matches without noticeable lag. My average ping was between 40-60.

....Hard to tell w/ out knowing the full details of your rig.
What I can tell you is this: XBL MOTW = home AES rev in my experience.
I conducted 'the pepsi challenge' this evening, and here are my results. YMMV.
I am running my DC, my neo-geo AES, and my 360 thru RGB pipes to an analog 19" monitor.
1) DC rev inferior port: those in the know already knew this. Crummy voice to animation sync, sprites scalled down to approx 80% of orig size, et al.
2) NeoGeo rev: obviously, arcade perfect plus. When using MVS cart on home system+converter and a low serial# deck w/ RGB cable you get arcade perfect sounds and graphics w/ the home cart perks of addn'l T.O.P. Setteings and Kain and Grant selectable from jumpstreet.
3) XBL rev w/ VGA cable: I do believe it to be a *perfect* port of home cart code. Addn'l T.O.P., Kain/Grant, and ***after fidling w/ graphics options*** a doppleganger of the cart. I mean, I was testing them side by side on the same monitor.
The caveat: for analog monitors- change graphic style to 'B' and set focus to 'normal'. This gives the chunkie sprites the elder statesmen in the audience go wild for.
@ jdotaku-If you have a new widescreen TV and are running your DC thru say, SVid, and your 360 thru who knows what...erm, I can only guess @ what you viewed on your screen.
I can say unequivically however, that the XBL rev, in my experience looks supierior to the DC rev in every way.
Dare I say it even *gasp* surpasses my Neo original? Such sacrilige?!?
Yes. I'll say it 100 times. How in the world? Easy. I can play matches with friends far and wide from the comfort of my home with *NO noticeable* shortcomings or tradeoffs in gameplay, graphics, control, or sound.
No lag here, and I'm only on 786k DSL.

All reports say the netcode is godawful unless you're hosting. The host gets no input lag at all while the other dude gets a ton of it. Also 1v1 rooms, no lobbies.
Famidrive-16

I've been hearing mixed on the netcode. Some are having terrible experiences, others are doing fine.
I've played 100+ matches and only about 6 have had any lag input. I've played a heavy mix of hosted/guest so I'm not experiencing the host lag. Ironically the last time I got a lag input match I was hosting myself.
I dunno what's going on with it, I've also read people saying they have trouble playing it offline.

I've had good fights over fast connections, and lousy fights over slow connections. I wasn't hosting any of them.
I'm on Live as Kid Fenris, if anyone's up for a match.

I've really impressed myself at this game. I managed to slaughter both Evan and Skaar. Then I actually held my own against DJBeatmon, who I thought was a 2D fighter god. I'm pretty happy with myself right now.

The last time I played this game, it was possible to walk into Best Buy and buy it for the Dreamcast. Many happy memories have been flooding back.
XBL is Holger Czukay. Butts and Dongs all around.
