Anyone know the Sonic 2 Genesis bundle release date?

I've been wondering and looking for years for a specific date to no avail and it's really bothering me because I cannot remember for the life of me when I got this.

Specifically, it's the model 2 Sega Genesis that came bundled with Sonic 2. Not the model 1 Genesis that came with Sonic 1 with a free offer to get Sonic 2 later.

I've heard that the model 2 came out sometime in 1994 but if anyone knows a date or even a month I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.

Bear in mind I'm searching for the SYSTEM'S release date, not the game's. The game's date is easy to find. The bundle of the system and game not so much. I suppose bundle should've been in the title, my apologies.

ooohhhh.. Sorry bout that. I just saw the topic title and assumed it meant the Genesis Sonic 2 game release.

I remember the model 2 came out in late 1993 because my cousin got one for her birthday in November of '93, and I got a model 1 with Sonic 1 and a mail-in coupon for Sonic 2 around August of that year.

Yeah, I've always assumed the model 2 came out around late 1993 and could've sworn I got it for Christmas of 1993, but everywhere I look online for a date it says 1994 and that really throws off my memory because I KNOW I got it before Sonic 3 came out.

I got the Model 2 Genesis and Sonic The Hedgehog 2 pack on the first night of Hanukkah in 1993 (December 9th). That means it existed prior to that date. This actually sort of blows my mind because I then must have gotten Sonic 3 not too long after that. Maybe not in February when it first came out but still pretty early that year. Crazy taxi.

It was released and advertised with the Genesis model 1 for the Christmas of 1993 in the United States. I remember the exact time and date, as my parents got me this bundle for Christmas from a Target store in Michigan. It had to again be re-released with the Genesis 2 model, either in the Summer, or fall of 1994. Because I have the original Model 1 with Stereo sound, and not the model 2. Maybe it depends on where you lived, and what Country you bought it in.

As far as I know the model 2/Sonic 2 bundle was a late 1993 release as one of my friends got it for Christmas the year after I got mine. I know that I got Sonic 2 with my model 1 Christmas of 1992. It came with Sonic 1 but had the offer to get Sonic 2 later which we had in a couple of weeks.
