IT'S COMISSION TIME! PLEASE CHECK THIS OUT! :D
Opening up bead sprite commissions! Please take a looksie!

Hey everyone! Those of you from the DP store that know me, probably already know that I'm going back to Japan in one month, I'm going to need to more money then what I currently have. So starting today, and since you guys can really appreciate my goodies, I've decided to open up commissions to the public. As some of you might know, I've been making beads sprites for a decent amount of time now, and I've gotten pretty good at it, and I like it a lot. They're made out of Perler/Hama beads, those little beads you probably played with as a kid, and then ironed together to fuse everything. These look awesome on your wall, fridge, game room, or anywhere! I'm gonna line the bottoms of my suitcases with them and take some to hang up in my Japanese apartment.

From now on, I'm going to start doing these regularly, even when I'm in Japan. I have a Flickr account for everything, and a website is currently in the works. Once I get home from Japan, I'm gonna start selling these at artist alleys at convention and all that good stuff ^^ Here are some examples of my work:

To see more images, and images in a bigger size, please visit my Flickr account: http://www.flickr.com/photos/osakasbeadsprites. I still have more photos to upload, and am constantly making new ones, so do check back.

I have beads in every single color that Perler makes (which is a lot), so there should be very few sprites that I won't be able to do.

So basically, if there's a sprite of it, I can make it, or I'll certainly try to. Things from some PS2-newer games may have too many colors/be too big, so just fyi. I can make them as is, with a border like I did for Dig Dug, or any way you want really. If enough people want them, I'll go get some things to turn them into keychains, phone charms, or magnets (like I did with the E Tank).

If you're having trouble thinking of sprites/characters, here are some helpful links:

http://www.spriters-resource.com/ (Awesome game sprite database, includes a lot of anime characters too)

http://tsgk.captainn.net/ (Another game sprite database, has some things the other doesn't)

Of course if you can't find what your looking for, a google image search never hurts ;D

Pricing: Pricing will vary depending on the size. The lowest an item goes is $2.50, and some original Legend of Zelda items I made went for $2.50. Some smaller ones like SMB1 Mario, Luigi and Goomba would be $5. Ones around the size of Terra would be $8. Ones around the size of Mega Man would be $10. And ones the size of something like Mega Man X would be $12. If you want something bigger then those it will obviously be more. Something the size of Super Metroid Samus (9" wide, 14" high) would be in the $30-$35 range. These are pretty standard prices for these, as I have done my research on this, and the prices have been well received by people and friends who have already purchased sprites from me.

Shipping: Unless you have something really big, shipping will only be $2.50 for one. If you have a bunch, it'll go up to $3-$5 or more depending on how many you have.

Payment: Paypal please! My Paypal email is osakapapa@gmail.com

Ordering: Please post questions in replies so that everyone can see, and if you'd like to place an order, please do so over PM, or my email at osakapapa@gmail.com. Please include a direct link to the sprite sheet your sprite is on, and identify which sprite on the sheet you want. For example, your sprite might be "3rd row down, second from the right, where he's jumping", or something like that.

Thanks guys for looking at this. I hope these can make you happy ^^ Because they are awesome. I hope to make you guys some epic sprites! :)

How much for a Slot Brother? Tenth row, near the center (http://www.spriters-resource.com/snes/earthbound/sheet/3153). The one holding his hands up.

It's the dude in the hat with hands up holding the "7" sign right? If so, he'd be $6 plus shipping. Please PM me if you'd like to place an order :)

This is awesome. I need some decorations for my pseudo "Room of Doom" (which will be a reality once I get a 3-bed apartment) and this would be perfect. I'll send a PM once I figure out exactly what sprites I need.

Do you do custom sprites? I have some sprites that my fiancee and I made for a game during college.

Osaka you totally inspired me - we just spent hours making these things. Awesome fun :D

Sure I can do those! Just link me to the images and I can definitely make them :) Let me know when you decide on which sprites you like ^_^

I'm really glad I could be an inspiration! :) They really are fun to make, especially with another person. What did you make so far? ;D

That's so far. We still have a shortage of lots of colours but I'm building up a stash. For anyone else interested - Osaka's giving you a deal and a half ;)

I'm loving it! I like the borders you gave those. I actually made one like that with Dig Dug with a yellow border, and I turned it into a coaster. If you go to Joann's/Michaels/AC Moore, you can get a roll of corkboard and some gorilla glue, and you can make them into coasters :D

Good luck with this. I tried something similar about a year ago, at lower prices(compared to your quote for similar stuff) and had no real bites at all. Got one good comission and that was it.

Not to be a downer, but more people ended up wanting to know how to do it themselves.

Hmm, I'm sorry to hear that. So far I'm quite happy with my turnout. I've had many commissions from friends, and already a few takers from here and other forums. I haven't received any complaints about my prices, in fact, I've been told they are quite fair by just about everyone who has commissioned me.

But hey, every situation is different. I have had people who desired to know about it, and that's I'm fine with too. It's a fun hobby, and certainly not something I wanna keep a secret :)

Just added a bunch of new creations to the Flickr, included my biggest sprite I've made to date, Glass Joe, made for none other than Mr. "digitalpress" himself, good ole Joe Santulli :)

I'd love that Glass Joe one, as well as the Goomba and Mario in shoes. They'd look great on the wall of my new game room.

I still have the Mario in the shoe. Goomba and Glass Joe were made for others. I can of course remake them (or make any other sprite) if that's something you'd want. Goomba and Mario are $8 each, and Glass is quite large, so he is $38. Let me know if you're interested :)

I'm still looking around at sprites to figure out what I'd want but figured I'd better ask this now: how much would keychain & magnetic ones be? (nothing big, just normal sized keychain and magnetic.)

I add $1 to the price of a sprite to make it a keychain or magnet. Magnets can be made with any sprite, but keychains are a bit trickier since they only work with really small sprites, like the size of original LoZ items, or something in that scale.

How can I tell what size something will end up being?

Osaka

It's really hard to tell from just look at it. They can get pretty huge, as you have seen if you've seen my Flickr. I can pretty much safely say that it's about a good 2-3x the size of the sprite when viewed at 800%

Ok so wait, if I wanted a keychain made of the pic of Katt that's second row from the top from here (http://www.spriters-resource.com/snes/breathfire2/rinpukattchuan.png), left hand side, the size would be 2 or 3 x 800 magnification?

Pretty much, yup. That would definitely be too big for a keychain. It'll look awesome, but it sadly will not fit in your pocket, unless your pockets are REEEEEEEEEEEALLY big XD

The biggest thigns really get for a keychain is something like a Mega Man E-Tank, and even that's kinda big..if that gives you an idea.
