I recently put up on ebay a NES that I cleaned up and put a new 72 pin connector in. I included a advantage controller. There are 7 games: Mario 1, Mario 2, Mario 3, tetris, zelda, punchout, and pinball. I also opened and cleaned all the games. I priced it at $62. Do you think that was too much?

$62 is way too much for that lot. I would value all that stuff individually at:
NES - $20
NES Advantage - $10
Super Mario Bros/Duck Hunt - $1
Super Mario Bros. 2 - $3
Super Mario Bros. 3 - $3
Tetris - $3
Zelda - $5
Punch-out - $5
Pinball - $2
It's priced about $10 too much IMO.

If you had posted it on Craigslist or something, I'd say it's a decent deal. It has all the key titles people remember, and not everyone is as tenaciously hunting for bargains as we are.
But on ebay you have to be a little more competitive.

Those are some awfully low prices.

You can't be serious, all those games are dirt common R1s, do you really expect Mario Bros 2 and 3, Legend of Zelda, and Punch-out to go for more than $5 for cart only copies? Maybe on Craigslist yeah you can go and sell them to some unsuspecting person wanting to bring back memories, but like tubeway said, there's a LOT of competition on eBay and if you don't make the prices low enough, your stuff just isn't going to sell.
I could probably find every last one of those carts for $1 apiece if I looked around at flea markets and thrift stores. They're EXTREMELY common. The NES Advantage doesn't go for more than $10 CIB, let alone the joystick alone. And toaster NES's are also very common.

Maybe for you the prices you posted are good. They may be extremely common but they do have a lot of demand.

You said $3 for Mario 2 & 3, not $5. I think $3 is low for them. Doesn't matter how common they are, demand is equally as important as supply. I'm not sure what thrift stores you go to, but none of the ones I've been to sell NES games for $1, nor do I usually see desirable commons when they even HAVE NES games. Finally, this is Ebay, as you keep harping on, not thrift stores or yard sales. Online sales tend to be HIGHER in cost than thrift stores or yard sales, competition be damned (probably b/c there's more competition FOR the item).
I think $60 is probably good for the lot. But let us know how your sale goes. Maybe I'm just totally out-of-touch with the market now. This lousy economy has definitely hurt the prices of classic gaming. I remember not too long ago Mario 2 & 3 reliably selling ON EBAY for $10 apiece, same with Punch Out and Zelda.

Thanks for replies. Yea, it looks a tad high compared to yard sales and thrift stores. I was mainly wanting to make back the cost of the new 72 pin connector and I was figuring in the time I took opening up, cleaning, and testing the games and system. The profits I make from the system usually go yard sales, my main way I increase my collection.

Lol $3 for Mario 3? Are you crazy? I get $15 for them easy at the flea and $10 easy on ebay... R1's sell for more than the rare games because they are the ones people remember!
I think your price for the bundle was fine.

$62 is pretty cheap for that, I'll break down what I'd consider to be good prices for those games if you wanted them to sell fast. I pretty much just sell locally so I'm used to craigslist prices, but I may be a bit off because of the economy being the way it is. Anyway, I'll list the prices I got regularly when I had extra copies of those games and systems.
NES system with hookups, 1 controller and Super Mario/Duck Hunt-$30(this would probably sell in a week or two, I sold off several spare systems for that price, or with a second controller and the zapper for $40 total)
NES Advantage - I never had one of these so I don't know, probably $5 for a controller.
Super Mario Bros. 2 - $10(whenever I had copies available they sold fast)
Super Mario Bros. 3 - $10(whenever I have copies they seem to sell fast, I think a bit slower than 2 though)
Tetris - $5
Zelda - $10(I usually price Zelda higher but it takes awhile to sell when higher)
Punch-out - $10-$15(Mike Tyson's Punch-out would sell for $15-$20)
Pinball - $5(this might not sell as quick)
That's how I see what everything is worth. I may be off because of the economy, I haven't been selling as much lately but what I have left isn't the same as the popular games listed above.

I remember it being at $10-15, but when I personally see it, it's around $3-5 these days. A LOT of games have gone down in value significantly...this time last year a toaster was what, $50? :grumble:
