The new interactive demo disc is being sold for $39.99 instead of the normal $9.99 price tag.

"interactive demo disc" for what system? Though this isn't a mistake I'd personally need to investigate, I'm still curious :)

If my local Best Buy was already open I would maybe go check it out. Is it possible that this is just your local store, or is there some special sticker (different from other price stickers) on there?

I'm assuming that you're talking about the Gamecube demo disc. I saw it yesterday and it was priced $39.99 so I passed.

Yeah, I saw this a couple days ago. They all had been repriced multiple times, so I peeled back the $39.99 sticker... another $39.99. And under that? $39.99. I guess they really want to get the point across that they refuse to sell the disc.

$39.99 at mine as well.

I pity anyone who buys it for that price.

Same deal at my Future Shop, but it's 49.99 CDN.

I don't care how good the demo is, I ain't paying 49.99 for it. ;)

$39.99 for a demo?

What's on it, the second coming of Christ?

I bought mine less than a week ago at Best Buy. $9.99. This must be a very recent change. It was worth the ten bucks, but DEFINITELY not $40. Maybe Nintendo found out about retailers selling them, and got ticked--al la Zelda Bonus Disc.

I thought Nintendo ok'd the sale of the discs at $9.99...for those not buying a new GC...eh, I don't know anything...I will just confirm I saw them at BB for $40 as well.

Time to go to Target...

So far, the official line is that the discs should not be sold. Any store that is selling the Demo should be reported to Nintendo, as they shouldn't be doing it.

Having said that, it looks like buying it is the only way you're going to get it, unless they are planning something and aren't telling us. So pick it up at 9.99 if you can.

for those in the new england region, Gamestop stores sell them for $9.99 as well. for those Nintendo loyalists, feel free to report the store. If we arent' supposed to sell them we shouldn't be.

You know, this whole thing stinks to me. If I was Nintendo, not only would I have put the disc out a lot earlier, and a lot more frequently, but I would have included it with NIntendo Power. Nintendo Power's subscription rate would go through the roof if they did that.

Be sure to harrass your local Nintendo Rep and tell them to distribute the preview disc as often as possible.

You know... thinking... is it possible the reason Nintendo doesn't allow the Kiosk disc to get out is because some of the games on the disc are complete and there is only like one line of code that causes the game to reset after a set amount of time?

I got the demo with my new Platinum Gamecube at Best Buy. Unless you're a Soul Calibur freak or a Nintendo completist, it's not even worth $9.99.

But, that Soul Calibur preview doth rock. Also, if you don't have Wario Ware, the demo of it may turn you on to that game.

P.S. Got Star Fox with the deal as well, took it to Wal-Mart for credit & got Ikaruga & a GBA/GC cable in exchange. I'm a bad man.

I was nt planing on buying one, but while in Zellers last week I found one buried behind a bunch of Xbox games and I snaped it up for 14.00.

Since it was the last one I thought I should buy it rather than regret it later on.
By the sounds of it I made a good choice. :-D

I picked one up rom TRU for $9.99. To me, it was worth it just for the viewtiful joe demo. I'm now extremely excited about a game that I before had little to no interest in.

Target actually advertised this demo disk in it's sale paper. I went to pick one up and they didn't have any. I did get one at Best Buy for $9.99 though. I don't recall seeing any mention of it intheir advertisement.
