I heard that you can do this. but can anyone tell me how? It detects it as a standard DVD drive but won't play any HD-DVD's.

I'd assume you'd need compatible playback software... generally requiring a license.

PowerDVD should do the trick - but it costs ze cash.

The thing is: I can't find that program anywhere. They don't make it no more. The only ones that were compatible were 7 Ultra and 8 Ultra, provided you had the patch files from the beta.

You can't buy it used because of the product code. So, where else would I get the proper codec?

As Dexter used to say: SUCCESSSSSSS!

Someone I knew had PowerDVD Ultra 8 and installed it on my PC. We also found the HD-DVD fix from the beta version(Cyberlink removed HD-DVD Support from the final product, so adding the files from the beta was the only way to enable it).

Now, I can watch King Krap....uh I mean Kong on my PC.....in HD!
