View Full Version : Using the Justifier Light Gun in Snatcher

Hopefully I'm not the only person on here to attempt this game in this manner. I'm playing Snatcher on a Sega CDX. I wanted to use a Justifier light gun w/ it, but I can't get it to aim properly. (At least while playing the practice area.) One thing I noticed tho is that if I use a controller, the default is for it to be in the middle of screen, and if I want to hit any other area, I can't just push in that direction, or even push and hold in that direction. I have to push and fire, because the target will go right back to the center. Is it just the game that's screwing me up, or is there something wrong w/ the Justifier... or is it b/c I'm using a CDX?

going back to the center is a good thing...

in snatcher its broken up into like a tic tack toe grid, so bad guys are only going to be in one quadren not in a specific area...

so say bad guy in the top middle, then another in bottom right then another in middle...

easy, up A, let go... down right A, let go, then A...

its alot better then up A, move down down A, then over A...

also light guns with time go bad... I hear shooting them against a mirror helps fix them but that sounds funny...

I also hate to ask this, but, are you playing on a lcd? cause light guns dont work on them...

p.s. snatcher is awesome and epic

I'm loving Snatcher so far. Got a huge laugh out of meeting "Metal Gear." And I see what you're saying, I'm actually getting better at shooting. Just wish I knew why the light gun wasn't working too well. Like I said, it DOES work, it just doesn't aim for shit. I'll hve to try the mirror trick.

I ran into this problem with the same game you mention; I blamed the TV, but I'll have to test that with an NES light gun. It's possible that they really just don't work well on Snatcher. I'll pick up another LightGun Genesis game eventually and see what's up.

You ever find out what's going on here? I finally got a "real" copy of the game (not the burned one I was using before) and I'd love to be able to use the justifier... but like mentioned before, the aim sucks.

This may sound dumb mobi, but do you have a flat-screen or a curvy-screen TV?

My lightguns are all dopey on my newer CRT that has a flat glass screen, but work fine on the old beater with the good ol' curved screen.

I was going to note the same thing. The Zapper, Justifier, etc. were designed for curved screens; the problem with aiming may be because the screens are flat. It shifts where you shoot and aim.

My TV has a curved tube, not a flat screen. I think there was another topic somewhere about using the Justifier with Snatcher that ended up settling what the problem was, but I don't remember anymore. I mean, I beat Snatcher, so by that point, I just didn't care anymore. LOL

Not only did I solve the problem, I've now finished Snatcher.

To fix the problem, you just have to turn up the contrast & brightness the the TV -- the justifier requires a lot more "bright" than either the NES, Sega [Master System], or later Guncon2.

Also, that was one of the greatest games I have ever played -- no wonder the fanbase is rabid! I think I might have joined said fanbase, in fact.

This game ends leaving room for a sequel. It NEEDS one, I think. I mean, WOW.

So I'll have to assume then that it's b/c Snatcher is "darker" than Lethal Enforcers? B/c I had no trouble using the Justifier w/ Lethal Enforcers.

No idea, I don't have any other light gun Genesis games. I was just glad to have figured this out -- that last section of the game would probably have been near impossible with a controller.

But not impossible, because I pulled it off. :D

Yeah, same here, I beat it with a controller. I actually think it would have been tougher with a light gun. You just have to fire over and over rather than aim and fire. That's what I did anyway.

Not impossible. Near impossible. Glad I didn't have to try :)

I loved Snatcher. It was way too short and the scripting kinda fails at times, though.

Snatcher is amazing for a sort of text adventure game. Amazing story and voice acting. In Snatcher though, all you have to do is choose every option and there you go. There's really no difficulty unless you can't handle the shooting parts which are also easy.

When it comes down to my favorite games of all time though, Snatcher really isn't close to the very top because while it's an amazing story, once you finished it it's replay value isn't really there. It's something I'd go back to, but not repeatedly like many other games I'll go back to regularly(Castlevania, Brigandine, Tactics Ogre, Mega Man 3, etc, etc, etc.)

There are plenty of secrets in Snatcher if you a) weren't totally obsessive while playing it; b) didn't use a walkthru while playing it.

Oops. I kinda did A), so... um... not much in the way of remaining replay :P

Doesn't mean I won't go through it again, though -- amazing game.

I agree with Kupo... I own Snatcher (and have since '96... go me), and love the story to bits, but the gameplay leaves some room for improvement. Like he said, all you have to to is "LOOK" at everything, then "CHECK" everything, and that will usually advance the plot.
The only part I ever got "stuck" at was the first time I had to make the facial montage... took me a while to get the right combo when I was 12, but after you see that guy in the game, you never forget that sinister grin!

And the improvement did come, it was called Policenauts.
