What are some of your favorite things you own that were never available on store shelves?

Other than preorder bonuses, I just have the Star Wars Rogue Squadron 3 demo disk for Gamecube. It was a kiosk demo.

Yeah, I've got that same disc, although it came with my copy of Rebel Strike, so at one point it was technically available on shelves.. Although I also like the Metroid Prime Hunters Demo, good times with that.

The Legend of Zelda Collector's Edition (GCN) for subscribing to Nintendo Power. You get 4 great games and a demo of Wind Waker. Pretty sweet deal if you ask me.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe Gate Of Thunder for the Turbo Duo was pack-in only. If so, that would be my fav.

But in my own collection, I guess a big (3 foot long) 3DO sign from my old store that I found COATED in dust when we renovated. I thought it was a ceiling tile.

I'd say the Legend of Zelda Collectors Edition also.

Also my Nintendo 64 Banana Controller cover. Why? Dunno, it just looks cool.

Just the 3 Vinyl stickies from my store window I managed to take off without ripping them:

Still need to flatten them out, add some backing to them, and hang them in my room somewhere.

Mine would have to be my Sharp NES w/ remote and 2 controllers:

2nd would be my Authorized Repair Center NES sign (NA photo... and mine has broken neon on the bottom part).

Hmm, I would think that something which was packed in with a retail system would be considered retail. Legend of Zelda: Collector's Edition came packed in with Gamecube in 2004 so it's technically retail, right? You got it on store shelves.

My coolest thing is probably my Japanese flyer for Super Mario Bros. 2 for FDS.

However, that Authorized Repair Center sign is awesome. I really want one now.

I've got a pair of Net Yaroze systems (Euro and JP) and a pair of Divers Dreamcasts. Actually, I several LE DCs and I don't think any of them were available at retail.

No, it was a Mail-in promotion from Nintendo for registering products on MyNintendo.

It was both. I know what I'm talking about. My biggest knowledge lies in Gamecube stuff, remember?

My Spartan helmet for sure. It's not the crappy one that came with the legendary edition Halo 3. This one was custom made and is fully wearable.

Whether it's authentic or not is irrelevant, since in either case
A) Can't afford it, and
B) would still buy it if I could.

Still, thanks for the link so I can bookmark/drool.

Yeah, my copy was a system pack-in. It was on the shelves.

Power Strike SMS count? That took me quite awhile to get a handle on.

EDIT: I forgot about the Nintendogs Dalmatian standee that my wife absolutely had to have. We went all the way to the Richmond TX GameCrazy to pick it up (with traffic... ~2hr drive, one way). Yes, all that for cardboard and a motion sensor that barks. It's a favorite because our home is a Dalmatian plantation and also full of Nintendo crap. It's synergy! LOL

That TV rules (I used to own one too), but it was most certainly a retail item.

All of my most prized items in my collection are non-retail items. These are probably my favorite of the bunch though:

I thought the SharpNES was only sold to hotels and such for some reason, but now can't locate anything that says so. It seems strange to me that you could just walk into a store and buy one. Not the first time I've been totally wrong about a bit of gaming trivia!

BeaglePuss

From what I understand they were sold at SEARS (although it may have been a different department store). I know I have seen them in the box, and I'm positive they were in stores.

It does look like something that would be in a hotel though, so I could totally see where you're coming from. It's one of the few items I sold that I wouldn't mind getting my hands on again.

Kitty's Catch, something I can't make out VI, and Hoppin' Mad.

The Sharp TV was sold 'retail' as was the Net Yaroze. They might not have been walk into any store and buy it off the shelf kinda thing, but they were out there.

I don't have lots of non run of the mill type stuff thats incredibly noteworthy. I do have a PlayStation neon sign and some other PlayStation uniques that I'll see about posting pics of later.

It's Arcadia VI, another unreleased NES game: http://www.unseen64.net/2009/06/27/arcadia-vi-nes-cancelled/
