Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall is now available free & legal from Bethesda:

Download speeds are slow now; here's a mirror:

You will probably want DOSBox (http://www.dosbox.com/) to run it.

This is great news. The original source code for Daggerfall was lost, so this is about the best thing Bethesda could have done with it, since without the source code they can't make any modern ports of it to anything.
The Past Elder Scrolls Games (http://www.bethsoft.com/bgsforums/index.php?showforum=15) forum on their site has some posts stickied that help with getting these games to run on DOSBox, along with some other generally interesting stuff, such as an apparent fanmade attempt to recreate the engine from scratch.

Awesome news, I'll be downloading them both at some point to give them a go.
I loved Morrowind and I love Oblivion, but I had never played any of these. I almost hate to say it but my concern is that I won't like them as much as any of the newer ones because they'll seem primitive by comparison.
Oh well, it's still nice to see Bethesda taking care of their fans. I wish more gaming companies operated like this.

I believe the DL already includes dosbox and patches.

That is awsome, and good PR for them. Daggerfall is an overlooked gem that was a heck of alot of fun to play back in the day
