I just got my butt kicked by Aran Ryan about 15 times in a row. I don't have a manual, so I don't exactly know all the counter moves. Is there a way to block his volley of punches? Also, how do you grab when it says that??

Actually, when the trainer says to grab, he's actually saying that to your opponent. If I recall, you start with your guard down and then just hit him with uppercuts as fast as you can and that knocks him down quickly the first time. With the quick punches, I believe he alternates between hitting you low and high so you just need to move your guard up or down depending on the order...

I bellieve he's the one who closes in on you, grabs, and takes your life, right? If you nail him with a super, he'll lean back, get pissed, and if you time it right, you can just keep pounding him with it over and over. Otherwise, just keep plugging away if you have trouble timing it right (it's not easy). He's really not that hard in the scheme of things compared to later puglists.

Man, I remember back in the day I beat the snot outta that game. I played all the way through in one sitting without losing a round. Then my friend came over, I told him not to play that file cause i didnt want him to lose and ruin my perfect record. He plays it and loses, wtf. I was pissed.
I'd probably get wasted by the fat clown now though, I haven't played in ages.

Yeah, back in teh day I had a 116-0 record with a time record of less than 45 seconds on each fighter. This was 5 years ago though and I don't remember the best way to beat Ryan. I'd have to replay up there to get my memory jogged.

Super Punch-Out master speaks now.
My current record is 255-0 (yes it maxes out) and I have a time record of less than 25 seconds on each opponent. ^^;
Just hit Aran Ryan with an uppercut/power punch/A button move/whatever you wanna call it. He'll get ready to grab you, and he'll flinch once (he kinda hunkers down really fast then straightens up again) after he does that, jab him in the stomach. Uppercut him again. He'll do the same damn thing, so jab him again. Repeat ad infinitum, or at least until a TKO. Cake. My record on him w/this method is like 16 seconds.

yeah I'd say I got pretty good at Super Punchout to the point where I could beat the 2 brothers at the end w/ ease.. But like AdamG I forgot most all of it (I'd figure it out eventually if I play it again), but unlike Captain Yashiro, I'd never had a 255-0 score.. good lord! x_x :P

Thanks for the help guys! I finally beat him now that I have the timing down. I think I am missing some of the moves. Are there like special puches you activate. I knowr about the super punch, but I see his hand glowing at times when the meter isn't all the way charged. What does that mean?? Is that a quick punch combo or something??

there's an easier way.....DON"T USE THE SUPER PUNCH.....First Just sit there, dodge and hit him in the head, eventually he'll do his punch fury...here you need to alternate your blocks by first no block(which actually blocks your stomach), then push up to block your face. If you block six punches in a row hell stop and try and do an uppercut....dodge this, whip him and immitialy push up to block the second round of punches...up nothing, up, nothing, up, nothing, and then dodge the uppercut, and whip him again. After this he'll go back to his normal fighting. You can use a super punch on him, but just make sure you can knock him out with it or you'll get bear hugged. You won't beat him in 15 secs, but you don't have to fight perect either.

You get powered up slightly and can punch a bit faster when this happens. You also have a power flurry at your disposal. When your meter is full, rapidly tap the power punch button instead of just pressing it once. Sometimes it works better, sometimes it doesn't. Depends on who your fighting.

Super Punch-Out!!, I'm a master in it, and my brother too (although I have most records). Slowest time I have at an opponent must be 15 or 16 seconds.
