Hey guys...it is time for me to ask everyone what is some of their all time favorite video games. I decided to start this thread because my favorite baseball game of all time MVP Baseball is no longer being made due to the contract between MLB and Take Two 2K sports. I asked for some of your all time favorites because I am curious about also differents eras....old school, next gen....whatever..lets all have fun with this and list some favorite games for different platforms over the years...Here are some of mine...

1)Baseball Stars NES....(Honorable Mention) Bases Loaded Series
2)Hardball Series for Sega Genesis(Honorable Mention) Sports Talk Baseball...I think the announcer is still catching up to the game as I type this.
3)Tony Larussa Baseball.....Sega Genesis.....Not the best game but I liked it!
4)MVP Baseball 2005 XBOX....My alltime FAV.....I love it....for the past couple years I have been trying to trade and update my rosters to the best of my ability just so I can play somewhat updated.....but I am afraid it is out of date now.

There are tons of games I could name so I am trying to keep this short....let me know guys whats you think

It's a tie between Bases Loaded 1 and 2 on the Nes. Man were those games fun. RBI Baseball(also on Nes) was cool too but the Bases Loaded series was better.

I am playing another 162 season with the Mariners. I am 10-0, my stats are stacked with lead off hitters, with a good runner in second, 4th, and 6th, position.

High Heat on the PS2. (2003 is what I played.)
It was the first baseball game (since the INTV) that I had gotten into. Oh man...that reminds me of some good times.

My all-time favorite is Baseball Stars: Professional on the Neo Geo. A few others I really enjoyed: Tommy LaSorda Baseball for the Genesis, Baseball Simulator 1.000 for the SNES, Dusty Diamond Softball (it's technically not baseball, I know, but I'm counting it!), the Hardball series on the PC, and MLB Power Pros on the Wii.

Mucho respect for SEGA's World Series Baseball games on the Genny and Saturn, but embarrassingly I really like the Ken Griffey games on the N64. The graphics were nice and I really liked the way they handled the batting. The strike zone being larger or smaller depending on the hitter was a nice touch, and the arcade-ish gameplay made for great pick-up and play fun as well as addicting multiplayer. Those home run derby's are second to none, too. Little League Baseball on the NES was the first one I had ever played, so there's a little bias there, too.

Still, it's the Griff for me - that opening screen where there's a mix of his voice saying "Call call CALL ME JUNIOR!" still makes me laugh.

I'm a little ashamed to say I've never gotten into Baseball Stars. My top three favorite baseball games are:

Little League Baseball (NES)
Bad News Baseball (NES)
Ken Griffey Jr. (SNES)

I especially like Bad News Baseball. That was a great game. Still is.

edit: does Ninja Baseball Batman count? My answer still stands either way.

Baseball Stars Professional or Super Baseball 2020. Neo Geo's got some sporting goodness!

I used to play and love the hell out of Hardball back on the C64, too.

Well, let's see. I like the two Baseball Stars games for the NES. The first one seems a little more "fair" than the second one, even though the second one has more teams and stadiums.

Also, I love Triple Play 2001 for the PlayStation. I just can't get enough of the Extreme Home Run Derby. That mode features such quotes from the commentators like "Don't hit the video game system, that's our livelihood!," "Is that a guillotine, Buck," and "Look, it's the world's ugliest seagull!

My favorite has to be Tommy Lasorda on the Sega Genesis.

and then Baseball Stars 2 (I think it's 2 anyway?) and Wii Sports baseball

Ken Griffey Jr. Presents Major League Baseball on the SNES.

I will be among the ranks to say this one.

After that, World Series Baseball all the way.

Don't call it blasphemy for a Sega fanboy to like a Nintendo game, I just really like that game. Do you blame me? It is really fun.

I'm weird when it comes to baseball - my top three hands down are:

1) Super Baseball 2020 (Neo Geo)
2) Reggie Jackson Baseball (SMS)
3) Basewars (NES)

I like Baseball Stars but... it's a touch too slow for me. RJB holds it's place due to being the first baseball game I got into - so good at in fact I would often hit a stretch of constant doubles in the 4th or 5th inning until a pitching change. I rarely lost :D

Basewars is fun, adding the mini-fighting-game element to it that adds some fun. Sort of like Archon - you have to fight to get the out.

but SB2020 - many many many days spent on that, in arcades, on MAME, at home with a consolized MVS.... glorious.

Baseball Simulator 1,000 because it was completely ridiculous and over the top with it's ultra powers such as the tornado pitch. I miss sports games that didn't care so much about realism like todays games do. :(

Awesome topic idea! Here's my Top 5 (it may not be enough, we'll see)

HEY HyruleHero! People are keeping up with the rosters, check out operationsports.com, there is still a vibrant community for MVP 05 there. I just re-picked it up on XBox, can't wait to play it some more.

1) Baseball Stars 2 (Neo Geo) - I've always had a blast bringing this game out of the cabinet, and used to be a proud owner of it. Graphics were top notch, game play was simple yet fun, and had all of the animation and character that made these games so good. It's completely arcade in nature, but for that reason alone, my favorite.

2) MLB 09 The Show (PS3) - Yes, it's current gen, like another writer said, but I have never EVER seen a game with this much depth. It satisfies the stat geek in me, has beautiful graphics, authentic gameplay, a ton of customization (updated rosters, sounds of the game), and a franchise mode that no other console game can touch. So glad I picked this up, and so desperate to play through a season. It'll be a cold day in hell before I finish it but I'll have fun trying!

3) Baseball Mogul (PC) - As noted above, I'm a complete stat and GM whore in games like this, so a game that has nothing but that aspect is exciting to me. I've been playing this off and on, love the fact that if I really sit down and try, I can simulate a full season in a few hours and still have full control of the future of my team. The realism is great, and the fact you can go back and start at any time in history is sensational too. Worth every penny.

4) MLB Power Pros (Wii) - You could sub the PS2 version in here, but I love the graphics and the unexpected depth of this game. Fun and easy to play, but a true baseball game to to the core. Also does a great job of allowing a ton of control options on the Wii, without it feeling gimmicky in any way no matter what method you try out. Have the 2008 version now, will be buying 2009 upon its release, should it come out (which is appearing doubtful)

5) World Series Baseball (Arcade) - If for nothing else, because it had the most awesome control scheme for a baseball game ever, with the levers for hitting and pitching. Outside of that, it was very simplistic, but perfect for an arcade game. Still remember hitting 15 home runs on one quarter at the Chuck E. Cheese's in Louisville when I was about 8 or 9 (this was Mall St. Mathews in case anyone reallky cares). If anyone has a good control scheme for this game in MAME, please send it over! I used to have it kinda rigged for a PS2 Dual Shock, but it didn't quite work because you couldn't tell it to make center axis the "top"

Honorable Mentions

R.B.I. Baseball (NES) - Still play this on the NES to this day, it's addictive.

Hardball III (PC) - Used to sim full seasons of this game too and actually changed up the official MLB roster you could buy extra to match the real players' stats. Tim Wakefield in my world was truly unhittable. Anyone still messing with Hardball III rosters?!

My favourite hasn't been named yet: Star League Baseball for the Atari 8-bit computers.

I've gone so far as to hack new 'between innings' trivia into it as well as renaming the teams to be the Jays and Tigers (playing at Comerica Park)

Bases Loaded. I haven't has as much fun with any other baseball game (retro-current) as I have with BL. I used to play it like crazy.

My favs these days are MLB the Show 08/09 and MVP 2005 on the PS2. The past decade I spent a lot of time with imports of the Power Pro series on the GBC, GBA, and DS. And over two decades ago I spent most of the 80's playing Star League Baseball and Hardball on the Atari 8-bit with some RBI Baseball on the NES to keep it interesting.
