I saw this unboxing last night. Awesome. I say up there with the Bioshock and dead space Limited editions. Plus a 360 /ps3 Pc version of call of duty. I just preordered mine from amazon for 155 with release date arrival. If the night vision goggles are what they claim they are this might go down as one of the best ones to date. I am sure someone will find something wrong with it.LOL

Wow. Looks like I'm going to have to preorder the prestige edition.

My reaction was the complete opposite. It was "wow", why would anyone spend $150 for a $60 game and a cheap pair of night vision goggles with Infinity Ward stickers on them? Although I think the goggles are at least relevant to the game, I just don't get why anyone other than a soldier in a warzone or a hunter needs to own night vision goggles. I also don't get the appeal of displaying them in your room. Of course, I also don't get why some of my friends have hundreds of action figures in their house on display, so I suppose this is just a case of to each his own.

I'll wait to find out the price in Canada but that looks amazing. Also it's good to know that it'll be the most limited edition, unlike what happened with Halo 3

I'm more of a fan of useless, displayable crap that comes with limited editions, not stuff that might have a purpose (especially a purpose I don't plan to utilize). i.e., I dig the Halo 3 Legendary because the hat looks cool, even if it's useless; however, in this case, I see no need to own working night-vision goggles. But, as someone said earlier, to each his/her own.

I was already suckered into buying the Legendary edition. I will not buy this.

Hardened edition for me (could they have called it something less homo-erotic...I know, I know, it's a difficulty level in the game), although I might go standard. Call of Duty 1 will probably suck ass by today's standards.

I feel you.

I got screwed with no grease on the halo legendary as well as assasins creed and the gamestopr re4. I am getting a good vibe on this one. Fingers crossed.

I think it is a nice little bundle. Will I use it. I think so I have alot of land around and I am out at night and it gets real dark. The real point is it seems like a nice bundle for thee hardcore fan \ collector.

Looking back on the dead space I now wish I wasn't so jaded at the time it seem to me to turn out to be a nice set.

The big fancy edition probably won't be released for PC which is total bullshit. Oh well.

DAMN, I was just gonna post an article about this, but I guess I'm too late!

for those who see no use for the night vision goggles, you've obviously never gone on a late-night panty raid when you were in college, otherwise you'd see just how useful those goggles could be... SHEESH, I'm not even straight, and I can see how useful they'd be for such things... are you all in Jr. High?

I'm sorry, but invasion of privacy and potentially getting arrested for stalking is really not high on my college to do list.

And there's so many lights on campus that you'd just look like a giant retard running around with that headgear on, since you can see perfectly fine with your own two goddamn peepers.

(obviously you're joking, but I thought I'd comment anyway...)

For $150 what did you expect?

I will get this, just like I got Halo 3 Legendary. Same way as well.

I will wait for the price to drop to $50 for a new one on Amazon and then get it. I did the same with GTA4:SE as well.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks ahead. I was just about to tell everyone who wants this that they should wait until next year when you can find tons of these clearanced at Gamestop, Best Buy and other places for $30-60. In the meantime, get one of the other two more affordable versions.

I just got the limited edition of Halo Wars at Target three weeks ago for $19.99(no thanks $79.99) and the limited edition of GTA4 last year for $45(no thanks $90). So there will be deals to be had, you just have to wait alittle while.

I can't begin to understand why anyone would pay that much for those useless things? Where do you guys find the space to put all these stuff? Is it truly "limited" this time? This is like 3 time the price of the game! People should really stop buying those. Anyway, that's my opinion.

Doubt that it's truly limited. All the major retailers including Best Buy are listing it.

Not surprising. The NVG's that we used in the Army were around $4000 each...and that was in early 90's dollars. The cost to replace them was pounded into our heads on a daily basis.

For anyone wanting to preorder any edition of Call of Duty MW2, Amazon has $10 off the game.

Basically, you buy it for full price, then you get a coupon for $10 that's usable for anything on Amazon. They say they'll email it within 2 days of the release date. Pretty good deal, I think. If you have Prime, they guarantee day of release delivery with your preorder, plus no tax.

I preordered the hardened edition. I think I'll probably sell the CoD code, and then I'll have a nice tin sitting on my shelf for the same price as the regular game.

Well, I want the Prestige for no other reason then the collectibility part of it, but for them to actually be collectible, we need production numbers. seriously, if there are more than 10,000 of these then they will NOT be hard to find or even rare. The only way they are worth this price is if they are a truly "LIMITED" release.

My guess is we're looking at something that will not be truly limited by definition, therefore not worth the extra money.

Are there any production numbers out there yet?

No, but like I said, several major retailers are listing it for pre-order, so there are at least 10,000. Best Buy alone has 1400 stores in the US, so you're probably looking at 2-3 copies per location just for them and another 1-2 copies per each of the 3800 Gamestop locations in the US plus another 500 or so for their on-line store. Amazon will probably get 500 units. The New Egg, Buy.com, Overstock, Microcenter, local game stores, etc... is probably another 1,500 units. Realistically I think it's more like 20K-30K when you really get down to it.

They should make the goggles work in game, so you can turn them on and the screen activates night vision.

and it can work for other games too, like ghostbusters.

YEAH! That's the ticket.

Well, even at that rate, 20-30K would be considered "limited" in this age of 1M print runs for garbage games. I'm just concerned that it will be 150K or more, like the cat helmet was. Then it's a waste of time and money.

Those don't cost $4K any more.

I'd be interested to find out how the image quality on those compares with these $30 pairs (http://www.amazon.com/EyeClops-Vision-Infrared-Stealth-Goggles/dp/B00153F5QA). If it was easy to jury-rig a couple of the cameras from these on one setup you'd have something vaguely similar to binocular ones.

It would also be interesting to find out if the Modern Combat NVGs are the same as the ones on Amazon, except with a different housing.

Of course, right now the rage is four-tube panoramic NVGs...man, those would be so cool to have. Don't know if those can be bought on the open market, unfortunately, but if you don't need to walk around with 'em you could go for these (http://www.atn-night-vision-sales.com/proddetail.asp?prod=ATN_NVBNVYGR20) ($1300). Wearable binocular NVGs are at about $2000 now, although I see Bushnell sells a pair for around $550 - including not only 1x1 optics but also 20x magnification.

The best deal was Amazon's 50% off with $60 of trade-ins last month. I ended up getting the Prestige Edition for $9 after that (and the ECA 10% off discount). Awesome deal :)
