The classic problem -- I have the UK PAL Terranigma and would like to play it on my US TV/SNES. Anyone know how to help? I'd rather make a purchase of a Honeybee Super-Magic or PAR3 than do a tedious SNES hardware mod, so if anyone has one for sale/trade, PLEASE let me know. Are there any other converters that would work? Is there a way to make a PAL SNES compatible with my TV? Any solutions other than hardware mods (unless you know someone that will do it for me) are welcome, and anywhere I can purchase a suitable converter is more than welcome. Thanks in advance!

Not sure if this will work for Terranigma, but......
I just broke off the two little tabs inside the cartridge slot on the SNES system. I did this for the pal game Paridous Da!. It worked fine, give it a try. Just get a pair of needle nose plyers and grab the little tab and wiggle it back and forth until it snaps off. There are two tabs, one on each side. Just look at a regular cart and you can see the two little notches on the back of every US cart.

Yep, I agree with MachineGex, just break off the tabs. It's the simplest mod ever to be achieved by retro geek kind. :)

So I was in the same position as you, I wanted to play terranigma. Long story short I ended up buying my english terranigma and a PAL snes from Australia, A step up converter for the power,a shape changer to use with it, and a pal to ntsc converter for the video. Works fine everytime, just a pain to hook up. Terranigma will NOT play on an american snes because of an advanced lockout method requiring you to mod your snes. There are NO adapters that will do this either, i have one after i bought terranigma and tried it for the hell of it, have fun staring at a copyright protection screen.

I actually just checked and my adapter is the super magic. And it doesnt work with that.

Sorry Gex and Math, but PAL isn't the same as Japanese. I've had no trouble playing my Japanese games on the system for years. Playing PAL is a bit more complicated. I guess I'm glad to hear Super-Magic doesn't work (though I've heard it does if you use the right US game with Terranigma) so that I don't go to the trouble of buying one. I have heard from many reliable sources that Pro Action Replay 3 and certain BIOS of 2 work, though. Thanks for the input, goku... I'll consider that as a solution.

A pro action may work, i dont have one. If there is a cart that will work with the super magic I dont know of it either, maybe someone else does. If need some more help with the pal setup I can try and get some pics or just relay some names and sites of pieces that youll need. It cost me 200 dollars before I was done with the setup though, 100 was just the game, the other 100 was all the pieces and the snes.

The Japanese version will always be an easy option. :)
@Goku: Could you PM me with some resources? I'd definitely consider this an option.

I don't know, the japanese text has me worried. I'd much rather play the european release if I can find a way.
