Factory Sealed N64 Paper Mario

Hi, I bought a few of these years ago at Toys R Us, they all have an overlapping type seal on the back, not the normal "H" seal. Someone thinks the overlap is not a genuine factory seal but all the sealed Paper Marios I've seen have it. In fact some of the game have/had the TRU security sticker on the back. Can anyone confirm that the overlapping seal is legit, also did any other N64 games have the overlapping seal (I know Paper Mario was one of the last games released for the N64, maybe they sealed the last few releases that way?)

Funny, I picked one up from somebody here a few years ago. Anyway, I find myself unconvinced that having this discussion doesn't eventually reward counterfeiters and scam artists. Not a very helpful answer, I know. I did take a look for my copy and didn't find it, though. I can't visualize what you're talking about so I wanted to see mine.

Aha, geez, I guess I'm getting old, N64 is already considered "classic"? ;) I'd have to go back to at least NES myself though when I think classic I think Atari. Still hoping for answer, I'm guessing there are a few "sealed game" collectors here. Not sure how discussion could reward counterfeiters however, would think if anything would help people avoid a reseal. Some people describe that it looks like a piece of tape down the middle of the back of the box (about same width as normal scotch tape) but it isn't of course.

I can't speak specifically about Paper Mario 64, but I think you have a legitimate factory sealed game. I have owned other games that were factory sealed like that. If the overlapping seal is clean and tight, I doubt you have anything to worry about. I would guess that faking that overlapping seal would be much harder than faking the regular horizontal seam.

I also think what you are describing is an original factory seal. I came across a Banjo Tooie that was sealed the same way.

I still have several sealed Paper Mario 64's and all have the overlapping seal so, I'd confirm your Factory seal

I can confirm his story if that's needed. I bought several copies of Paper Mario years back when my Toys R Us had beaucoups of them for sale for something like $9.99 a piece. I stupidly sold them a few months later on eBay for $15 a piece. (eh... If I'd only waited longer. I didn't think to keep them :( ) I don't remember how the seal was, but I can confirm that Toys R Us did have a lot of extra stock of this particular game.

Ironic really that in the UK it's completely the opposite case, where it was amongst one of the last games released prior to being shortly pulled off shelves to make space for the GameCube. I remember my local Toys R Us having loads priced very highly, and then the next week they were all taken off sale- Who knows what happened to them after that...

It's become quite the rarity here in PAL land, and sealed copies (With our super special red Nintendo tear strip) are very VERY rare and sought after, with only about four known to exist - I've been offered upto £900 for my copy, believe it or not! I wish I had paid full RRP and bought more back in the day when I still could!
