The PS3 centric edition of the Watchmen film (out today on Blu-Ray and DVD) does a good job of hitting the perfect pitch of what Sony has been babbling on about for the past several years in terms of the PS3 being an ultimate "multimedia" device. (Which it certainly is, but I haven't seen a hell of a lot of game/Blu-Ray packages that sew up that distinction as nicely as this one does.)
The PS3 System Branded "The Watchmen The End Is Nigh The Complete Experience" set includes:
The Director's Cut of the film on Blu-Ray
Both installments of the formerly DLC only "The End is Nigh" game (decent 2 player walk & beat em up ala Fighting Force or Streets of Rage) on Blu-Ray
A booklet, a mini-poster and a "timeline" fold-out of the history of the Watchmen.
For all the fit-pitching that some people do over DLC only stuff having no box or disc ... and the fact that both volumes of "Watchmen The End is Nigh" were a bit on the expensive side, I think this is a decent set which appears to save about $10-$15 off buying everything separate.
Of course this serves to be the most attractive offer for Watchmen fans who are PS3 owners, enjoyed the film enough to want it on Blu-Ray, and did not previously download either installment of the game.
Come to think of it ... I may be the only one ... but just in case there are any others out there, consider this your notice - don't pass this one up.

Wait, it doesn't include Tales from the Black Freighter?
Looks like they're holding something back. Wait for The Watchmen The End is Nigh The Complete Experience Ex Plus Alpha Turbo Hyper Edition.

Yeah ... comic book movies are so damned susceptible to the double-dip and tripple-dip of "special edition", "extra special edition" and "X year anniversary edition" ...
... but since this version had the games on Blu-Ray I figured it was noteworthy for the PS3 gamers/collectors.

If only they would get to the point where they are working closer with the studios and bringing these editions right out of the gate.
I imagine people who downloaded the game may be a tad cheesed off, though I never did so i'm buying this sucker.
It's great idea Sony has, but could be executed better. Like a super Nuon player.

Sadly, the game is terrible and the movie was only average. Still, it's nice to see Sony following through on this concept.

I don't think the game was that bad but the movie was great, easily one of the best comic book movies.

I just finished the first game in the set and while it was short and the enemies were repetitive it had a really nice rythym to the combat system - and the "Zack Snyder" style push-cut to slow-motion for the finishing moves never seemed to get old. Pretty impressive looking environments and character models too.
Yeah, it's really "minimal" stuff in terms of the design, but beat-em-ups are fun and I'd rather have it packed in with the film than pay $15 bucks for it via download.
The package is obviously not for everybody, but a cool deal IMO.

Wait, wasn't there a version of the fighting game that wasn't DLC already?

Yes, the game originally came out as DLC-only.
Damn, kinda wish I didn't just pay to rent the movie on PSN now.

I wish I'd never wasted my money on the first chapter of the game so that I could buy this and be disappointed in it for the first time at a slightly more reasonable price.
Normally I don't have anything against beat em ups, but Watchmen was an especially disappointing one that failed on a couple of levels.
1) It sucked in co op. How do you make a beat 'em up suck in co op? They found a way! Apparently, if you split the paths for the players so that they go down different routes then you can provide them each a character-specific unique experience. Pretty cool idea until you forget to provide any sort of experience for one of the characters and their "route" consists entirely of waiting by a door while the other player goes around, beats the shit out of guys for five minutes and then flips a switch to open the door.
2) Lock picking minigame kind of blew. Anything wrong with just stealing the Splinter Cell lockpicking minigame? Apparently so. :(
3) End boss fight was horribly balanced. The flame one hit kills you, which really limits your options. Characters do too little damage to simply chip away the health of the boss through either normal attacks or by hurling enemies at him, so you're left with hanging out on the sides, building rage/charge, triggering the boss, one person fighting w/ rage or charge, triggering the boss, other person fighting w/ rage or charge, rinse, repeat.
4) Control was a bit spotty. Nothing as bad as Spikeout Battle Street, but still iffy.
5) Bugs! I had entire rooms fail to render when I played through.
6) Despite its short length (took us 3 hours to co op through it), it felt like it was taking forever. I blame that on the terrible pacing and structure.
But hey, the storyline is cool and well done for anyone that missed out on the DC Heroes modules back in the day.

Watchmen - The End is not as Nigh as you'd expect it to be.
