Up for sale is a portable Super Nintendo built by me, Brian Henderson. I am a moderator on the benheck.com forums and have been building portables for some time now and I consider this to be one of my best projects yet.

Even Ben Heckendorn (http://benheck.com/) thinks it's great! This was a picture taken at the Midwest Gaming Classic earlier this year.

Yes, that is indeed a joystick you see instead of a D-pad. It registers 4 directions just like a normal D-pad but is far more comfortable on your thumb!

System features:
*Large 5" LCD screen with LED backlight for low power consumption
*Lithium polymer (LiPo) batteries that last over five hours per charge - not bad at all for a 5" LCD screen and a system never designed to be run off of batteries!
*AV out and headphone jack
*Second player jack for twice the fun!

Perhaps most importantly, this system comes with a 6 month warranty against any malfunctions of the system NOT caused by the owner. Also, although the batteries will last for several years I am offering a free battery replacement service should the need ever arise.

YouTube video of the portable being built and initial testing! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nFa72yfnOsI)

This portable has worked flawlessly since I finished it ten months ago. You can see in my video that even if the cartridge is smacked while playing it does not glitch at all. Snug!

I am asking $450 for this system, which includes the charger, six month warranty and battery replacement service as previously mentioned. Anyone who is interested please contact me either by PM on this site or email me at portablizer@gmail.com

Thank you!

This unit looks amazing, but I have a question, this unit doesn't look like the can play SFC carts (partly because the cart slot is shaped specifically to snes carts), can be made to play SFC carts as well?

Actually, it can. When I was at MGC showing off the portable to a vendor selling SFC carts, I tested that. The carts just barely fit, but the system played them without a problem. It was cool! I originally cut the hole to match US NTSC carts but about two seconds with a file will make the hole large enough to play SFC carts without any issues.

I'll sell it on TV if you can get that price down to $20. $19.99 is the way to go!

Seriously though, that thing is amazing. Would love to have it if I actually traveled.

I have a question. Now does this system have the inner workings of an official SNES or a clone system like the retro duo? Also, the AV out, is it the nintendo style where you can plug in a SNES/N64/Gamecube style AV cable, or is it some sort of mini jack?

I kinda figured you could've filed the cart opening to accommodate SFC carts, but during your video you kinda slapped the cart to show how sturdy it was, with that filing down does that affect said sturdiness?

sorry for all the questions, but I've been meaning to buy some sort of modded system/accessory (almost bought benheck's 360 Duke controller...but bawked later on price.), and this might item I pick up.

I used the SNES portion of a Retro Duo. If I remember correctly there is a great compatibility guide on this forum. The AV jack is a mini jack and works with the standard camcorder-type cable you can buy from RadioShack or Best Buy, but if you want it I'll include one I have with the system.

As I said before, it's quite snug. So long as you're not prone to seizures I doubt there would be any problems.

oh wow, that's sexy. I came in here expecting to see a metal box with big buttons jutting out of it. Way outta my price range right now, but I gotta say, very nice work!

Made from a Retro Duo, huh...that means no RGB output....

I would buy the NES version of this, but only if a PowerPak worked with it.
