This has been on the internet for years, but this does bring up a question: did Mario World really start on NES and then moved to the then-new SFC?

If only a test/proto cart or ROM of that was around. Would be interesting to see what it was like.

I know they already found some unused Raccoon Leaf tail and little Mario sprites, not to mention a diagnostic cart full of unused tiles that look like somewhere in between Mario 3 and World.

I kind of wish the raccoon feather would have been kept and that the game would have been titled Super Mario Bros. 4 - Super Mario World...
