I just recently picked up a PS3 with backwards compatibility - the 80GB unit. It's working great with my PS1/2/3 games, except for USB controller compatibility. While I heard that Sony added USB support in PS2 games awhile back, it doesn't seem to be recognizing my USB Saturn pad that works with PS1 and PS3 games. Is there anything special I need to do to get this to work? I'm using the latest 2.80 firmware.

I have the same problem. All of my USB gamepads, including the official PS3 Street Fighter IV Fightpad, and they all work with PSX and PS3 games, but PS2 games only work with the PS3 pad.

I've noticed that when running a PS2 game, the USB devices completely get cut off. The RF adaptor for the fightpad always has a light on when it's plugged into something, but as soon as you run a PS2 game on the PS3 the light dies and the controller can't find the adaptor. Supposedly some controllers work, but out of the 3 I've tried (The fightpad, a Thrustmaster Firestorm Digital 3, and some garbage N64/PS2 USB adaptor that hardly ever works right) all work with PSX and PS3 games, but not with PS2.

It's really annoying, honestly. I wish Sony would update it, but I doubt it's that big a conern to them. Especially now that BC models have all been discontinued.
