I have constructed a poor man's Mame Console/Cabinet. I have a disability, so
traditional cabinet deseigns don't work well for me. I instead decided that a
better route would be to go with a less traditional Console approach. It seemed
both more cost effective, and easier on me. But I have a few problems.
The Mame Console Cabinet is a PC in a Theatre case running Mandriva Linux
2009.1. (It was an upgrade from 2008.1.) It connect to:
A large Standard Definition TV Made by Magnavox via S-Video.
A Stereo system made by Emerson.
A Sega Genesis Multi-tap connected to four six button Sega Genesis Controllers
Two USB to PSX Playstation aadaptors. (I want to eliminate one and replace it
with one capapable of reading a Sony PSX Multi-tap.)
A Bluetooth Dongle for a WiiMote
A NES Four score allowing four NES Controllers to connect via a single USB Port.
A logitech Extreme 3D Flight stick.
The machine uses a Nvidia 8400 Graphics adaptor for its video card. But there
are problems.
Problems:
There are overscan and aspect ratio issues with the Nvidia Driver. (185.18.14)
A Good example is 256x240. The card does not have modelines for 256x240. It has
mode lines for 320x240. Games running in 256x240 get "Pillar boxed" into
320x240.
So one question that I want resolved is, I'd like to add some resolutions to my
card but I have no idea what to tell X.org's modelines. Or whether attempting
to force the card into this mode will cook my card.
Another problem is my WiiMote. It has become violent ever since my upgrade from
2008.1 to 2009.1. But that problem is best suited for another time right now, I
just want to correct the Nvidia display issue.
