Hey guys, I was hoping I could get some advice on this one. I have an Elite Xbox360 that I bought brand new at launch. Sure enough, about a year or two after purchase I start getting the RROD.

At first I used the towel trick to get it going but eventually that didnt work anymore. A couple of months ago, I used the X-Clamp fix and that got it working just fine. Lately however its reverted to the RROD again.

Now if I open it up and play around with the pressure on the screws, I can get it to work again, but that's a hassle to have to go through all the time so I was hoping someone could suggest a more permanent solution.

Its not a huge deal because I have another Xbox that I can play on in the meantime, but any advice would be appreciated.

I think I see some BS here since the Elite wasn't available at launch and that if you were having issues with it, you could have just sent it to MS to get it fixed for free. You also say that you have another xbox to play, so what would be the big deal to send the broken one back for a free repair?

Maybe he means when the Elite units launched.

Outside of buying a new Arcade unit and swapping the HDD, I don't see any point in NOT sending it back to MS for repairs.

Problem: if he's opened it to fix it himself, then he can't send it to MS -- they'll tell him he's effed with it and send it back.

Sorry, I meant to say I bought an Elite when IT was launched. Sorry about the confusion. I can't send it back to microsoft because I already opened it, the warranty is void now. I was just hoping someone might have had some tips on this issue, ah well, its ok, thanks anyway everyone. :)
