Genesis Model 1 AC replacement needed

I picked up a Model 1 Genesis today, bare console only, hoping one of my Model 2 power supplies would work. It doesn't even fit so I know they're out. Without having a model 1 power supply on hand, will any generic ac adaptor work?

The back of the console says DC9V 1.2A. Is this what I look for when shopping for a generic ac adaptor?

Although I believe the NES adapter will fit in the Genesis, DO NOT DO IT. It'll fry the Model 1. You can easily find a compatible adapter on Amazon or EBay.

You should look for the following specs:



Sega Genesis 1, Sega CD 1, Sega CD 2
MK-1602
Output: 9V DC 1.2A
Connector: coaxial 5.5mm/2.1mm (DC plug 2.1mm)
Polarity: negative center
