Were there any good games for the CD-i?

It had the best Dragon's Lair and Space Ace that i've ever played on a home unit, personally.
I also liked Tetris, Litil Divil, Link: The Faces of Evil (yes, I liked it), Chaos Control, 7th Guest and my all time favorite FMV Burn Cycle.
A few of these could also be had on PC and while there were a few other "ok" titles there was a WHOLE BUNCH of crapola. Don't even get me started on Kether!
So yeah it had some good titles, but to me the main reason I still have mine is for the Dragon's Lair and Space Ace discs as I haven't found better versions to date.
Depends really, I always ask Where there any good games on NES? It's all down to people individual taste.
But seriously, the CDi was never meant to be a gaming console, first it was made to play movies on CDs, second it was meant for edutainment titles, which in turn, lead to gaming.
The Apprentice, excellent platformer
Lemmings, can never go wrong with Lemmings
Tetris, ditto
Pac-Panic, nice game too

Movies came later. The original CD-i lineup had mainly educational titles and some (heavily child-centered) games. The full-motion cartridge that gave CD-i the ability to play movies came along a couple years later.

The CDi design and functionality was a little too non-focused to ever have many great games on it. Too much effort was made into making it into an all-in-one set top box... Kind of like the 3DO Interactive Multiplayer. I must say the 3DO is better than the CDi though.

Incorrect. It was designed to play games, movies and edutainment titles. The first batch of launch software commercially released in the US and Europe contained several game titles and none of them were even FMV games. I'm not sure where people got the idea that the CDi was not designed to play games as even several years prior to release, Philips distributed lots of development info to game companies and EA even set up a dedicated team to create games for it. Admittedly, EA never really followed through, but other developers did.

I heard The Joy of Sex was a good cd-i title but I've never gotten around to play it, mainly because I don't have a cd-i system.

I'm not gonna google that search again.
Must be SUPER obscure this site with the complete CDi games doesn't even know the publisher.

It was published by Mitchell Beazley International Limited and Philips Interactive Media International Limited.

Burn Cycle is pretty cool and the port of 7th guest isn't bad, all things considering. If you like Youtube videos, check out "Crap Digging Investigations" by this guy called the Half-Blind Gamer. His videos are very well put together, and he has a whole mess of reviews for CDI games - quite entertaining.
I have about 1,000 games, but Mad Dog Magee for CDI may be the worst game I have ever played or seen in my entire life. The controls for the gun are just beyond flawed. I'd rather have Brock Lessner turn my scrotum into a rubber-band propelled model plane that play that game again. That game is worse than a Mandy Moore album.

Wow I thought I was the only one that owned that title. LOL. I sadly don't think it's very interactive, but I also don't own a CD-i so no way to tell.

Likes (and I'm sure there's more I haven't found yet):
The (classic) 7th Guest
Not just a straight port; the puzzle at the very beginning is different from the PC version, and reportedly it's missing a puzzle. Mine crashes at a certain point in the game (possibly a problem with the system I use).
Hotel Mario
Decent fun up to the ice stages at least
Link: The Faces of Evil & Zelda: The Wand of Ganelon
I haven't played much of either yet (always find something else to do instead) but the awesome otherworldly backgrounds makes up for the many issues. Despite the malignant control scheme, this is a game that couldn't have been done on a non-CD system at the time of its release (at least I imagine the backgrounds would have taken a hit in colors)
Burn: Cycle
Eh, haven't gone too far into this one. Got to the spaceship to escape and then didn't figure out how to turn it on. Fun for the cheese though.
There may be something else I played and didn't find awful, but I'm having trouble remembering anything else that wasn't TETSUOOO GEIDEN (argh) or something else terrible. I have Dragon's Lair and Space Ace but don't like 'em.

I sadly don't think [The Joy of Sex] is very interactive, but I also don't own a CD-i so no way to tell.
It's not. You basically choose things from a menu, and you get digitized actors offering you very generic advise about sex. There are occasional illustrations of sex positions, but there didn't seem to be any "Kama Sutra" section when I tried it. If you're looking for fap material, stick to internet porn.
Anyways, as for good games, there are a few... though they get drowned out by the poorly done multimedia and educational games. Here's some that are worth looking into:
Basically any FMV game. As a general rule, the CD-i versions of these games are superior to any other versions from the time, thanks to using the digital video cartridge. This includes games like Dragon's Lair, Space Ace, Mad Dog McCree, and many others. There are also a lot of lesser-known FMV games that worked very well on the CD-i, such as Kingdom, Creature Shock, and Kether. If you're a fan of FMV games, then you'll find a lot to enjoy on the CD-i.
There are also some early DOS CD-ROM style games like Myst, Inca, and Litil Divil that worked quite well on the CD-i.
The Zelda Games - These are well known for being awful, but most of the bad reputation comes from the FMV scenes, which I think are hilariously funny. The gameplay isn't all THAT bad, and is actually pretty impressive when compared to the rest of the CD-i library. Zelda's Adventure is quite a bit different, being more like the original Legend of Zelda, though the price will put it out of most people's reach.
Accelerator - A fairly decent overhead racing game. Think Micro Machines, except with better graphics. You can choose different cars, and you can upgrade them between races.
The Apprentice - A very cute and colourful platformer that looks like something you'd see on the Amiga. Nothing amazing, but solid game overall.
Atlantis: The Last Resort - A decent first person shooter. Though no better than Wolfenstein 3D, I think it's impressive that they managed to pull it off at all.
The Wacky World of Miniature Golf - Features the voice of Eugene Levy... it doesn't get much more wacky than that!

I absolutely love Mad Dog Mccree. I never played it with the gun though I used the analog pad. It might possibly have something to do with the fact that the first time I played it, it was on the arcade unit at Six Flags. Having the game at home was unbelievable at the time.

To your credit, I never tried playing the game with the pad only. However, no functionality with the guns exsists. No only is it highly inaccurate, it suffers from lag that makes it totally, 100% unplayable. When you try to shoot your opponents, the game has to load various movies of either the bad guy being felled, or you dying. The game freezes for a second and glitches out, making any chance of shooting the enemies at the proper time, consistently, impossible. The whole point of the game is that you shoot the enemies at the right time, which is impossible to do with the given controls. This is why I still feel that is is one of the most flawed, (control-wise), games I have ever played. I played for an hour and a half with my friend, and we could no get past the forth guy - just the forth enemy! Not to mention the cheesy characters and video...We tried shooting before we were supposed to, afterwards, getting trigger happy, different distances and angles, bit it was all for nothing. The problem was in the CDI system and its ability to load the FMV. It is like the entire game is unsure of where it is going. The game is indesisive, if that is possible for a game.
I could see how other versions of the game could be "okay," and I have never played the fabled and super-expensive sequal for the Sega CD
For me, at least the game falls into the "It's so bad, it's funny" camp, right there with Lester the Unlikley for SNES. There are a lot of games out there that are just plain bad, like Drake of 99 dragons for Xbox. Now that game is just BAD! There is nothing funny about it, unless you paid full price for it, ha ha.
