I am not sure if this is the right forum to post this, but here we go.

I am seriously interested in mass producing a quality clone system. I was wondering if anyone knows how expensive or difficult it is to produce one, like the RetroDuo or other famiclones? I'm aiming at something other than a NES/SNES or Genesis clone, but I will not say which system. Thanks.

I think there's a guy here that had a hand in the production of some licensed Sega Genesis clones. He should be able to help you find out more.

I don't know to be honest. But if you make a small quality clone of the PC Engine with a region switch (for US and Japanese games), CD playability, av and S-video out, and built in 4 player adaptor; I would pay ya $100 for it.

Yea I can just wish.......

If your seriously planning on mass producing something, then I could hook you up with some overseas circuit board manufacturers, as well as other electronics destributors.

Here's an example of a circuit board quote to give you an idea of costs.
This is for an 8"x5" 2 layer board with similar parts that a clone system would have...
750pcs/order - $4.30 each
1500pcs/order - $4.21 each
2500pc/order - $4.10 each

Setup charges(with first order only) - $500

So a 1 time order 750 would be $3725. A higher quantity of 2500 will cost about $10,750 for just the PC board alone..which is actually pretty good for mass production. If you have some made at a prototyping place in the states it will run you about $20-$40/board.

Here's what I personally want to see:

Portable SNES(they made a portable NES, why not)
Portable 2600/7800
Turbografx/PC Engine clone
Super Genintari(but mass produced)

I have a critisism about the Super Genintari. First, with as big as that thing was, I see no reason he could not have included an Atari 7800 Support on that. Also, he should have added Neptune support (32X) straight away. Sega CD may not have been possible though.
