So I am trying to go through the games I dont play anymore and realized I have 8 Mario Party games. WOW!

So I figured this would be a good topic. Not just to benefit me but others who might want to get into this series.

Now I love this series but there were a few misses in here.
So whats everyone favorite Mario Party?

Im not going to rank them all, but my top 3 are (no order)

1, 4, & 6.

Anyone else?

I'd say the original. It had alot of good games. I don't remember any of the others so I guess that nulls my answer.

The 3 on the N64 are my favorites, and they are extremely hard to top in my book. My favorite has to be Mario Party 2 with Mario Party [1] as a close (very close) second. I have more memories with the original, but 2 has a great blend of everything, from dueling, keeping mini-games from 1, and interesting board types.

Here would be my quick little ranking of the titles I've played:

MP2>MP>MP3>MP4>MP5>MP6>MP8

Funny how it seems they have gotten worse by each installment. :D

I highly recommend the first 4 in the series. I really can't say much negative things about those titles, but Mario Party 5 started to lose me with the "capsules" instead of "items". Mario Party 5 does have a very addictive mode called "War" which makes it worth owning. Mario Party 6 is below average in my eyes, and 8 was just...blah.

That's my mini rant on the series. I've played so many great 3-4 player MP games that I had to comment on this topic. I've also been screwed over so many times by chance time :D.

all I know is you have to play them in order, 1 - 8 ... or miss out on the totally immersive plot.

I have played every Mario Party (except 5) and I would say my favorites are 1, 2, and DS.

2, 1, 4, 3.

Rest = meh.

Mario Party 4 is the perfect middle ground for me.

Better graphics since it was on Gamecube and kept the basic elements that made the N64 games fun. Once 5 came out, the series just started getting too complicated and overly frustrating, it already bordered being a frustrating game in the first place so all that new crap they added just made it a mess.

Mario Party is best in its simplicity.

Mario Party is best in its simplicity.

I wish Nintendo knew this...

1, then 4, then 2, then DS. The rest are all really crappy. 1 started it all, 2 was also REALLY fun, 3 kinda sucked, 4 was REALLY fun, then after that they dropped the ball on all Mario Party games until Mario Party DS in my opinion, which brought back some of the simplicity and fun from the original games.

Id probably say 5,7,2,6 and i dont know how to rank the rest.

8 is definitely the worst due to atrocious, uninspired board design. Overall I have fun with all of them.

1, 2 and 3 for me. I found them all to be excellent with 2 being my personal favorite. I found that the series began wearing thin after 4 though. It seems like the mini-games, storyline and all-around fun factor dropped, probably due to lack of ideas and the repetitive nature of the games themselves.

My favorite is #1 but I did not care for the series that much so didnt even really like #1 that much. I felt #8 on the Wii was just pure junk..

2 is my favorite. 1 was pretty good, but I think 2 pretty much shaped the series. Still, I do miss the everyone works together minigames that got dropped after the first. Never really played too much of the third though as it, 7, DS, and Advance are the only ones I don't have.

I do have to say 5 seems to always get the worst reputation. 6 and 7 were better thanks to how fun the microphone could be. It's just funny to say something random only to have it do something awesome. Never got around to playing 8.

I actually enjoyed 8 on the wii quite well, i am surprised so many of you are trash talking it. I never really got into the gamecube ones so cant judge them. But the n64 ones are all awesome.

For me, definitely 1 and 4

I would say 2 because unlike 1, you could practice the games. That was helpful when you had friends over that aren't too video game inclined.

8, mainly for the reason that I can pick it up and play it with a bunch of my friends without the "that game is old and sucks" I don't know if I like the minigames in 8 best but I like being able to play with with almost anybody right now because of the wiis popularity. Not many of my friends are good at videogames too so this really is something that's a godsend to me.

Uggh... Mario Party. I used to have the first 2 n64 ones. I remember the bastard games used to cheat like mad (their rolls always seemed a little too lucky if you know what I mean). Did the later ones still do this?

yes at times in 8 the rolls seem like bs.

Dammit, I noticed that too! For awhile there my wife was beating my @$$ in MP8. I always thought it was fishy. Unfortunately it's the only game she'll play... :(

I thought you could practice in Mario Party 1 by pressing R or Z or something like that.
