Me and my partner in crime, Legacy, are on a mission. We are the 8Bit Adventurers and are trying to beat all NES games that we can. I am trying to collect them all and I am currently 387 games. We have beat 55 games so far and are progressing steadily. Check us out on YouTube at our channel, 8Bit Adventures, and at our website roomofdoom.theranthive.com. Have you ever had the guts(and stomach) to beat WWF Wrestlemania?
Anyways, not sure if you have this, but as a heads up(as someone who used to play it all the time), if you play Maniac Mansion, it has three endings(Weird Ed makes the save, Lab Blows Up, and Meteor Police arrest the meteor).

The Simpson games I would be more worried about ghost n goblins, ninja gadien, kid icruas and contra those are the four hardest games. good luck

What about getting the publishing contract? What about enlisting the Green Tentacle? What about feeding the meteor to the plant? But this thread is not the place for such matters.

The hardest games would be less well-known stuff like Snake Rattle 'n Roll, or crap like Athena.
I say, life's much too short to be spent with awful games to contribute towards some meaningless number! Forget about the "quest" now and just play what you enjoy.

Hmmmm....never got those endings. TO GAMEFAQS!
Anyways, how about Uncharted Waters? It's not everyone's cup of tea(the tropical storms suck), but it's a really good RPG.

Are you going to attempt to beat* the unlicensed games, like the ones by Color Dreams? I'm not sure, but I think Bible Adventures and/or Dudes With Attitude would be a nightmare to beat.
*Are any of the unlicensed games beatable? Ugh, just the thought of attempting Captain Comic or Bible Adventures...

Hey! I kind of liked Dudes With Attitudes!
Actually, isn't Action 52 unwinnable? And I'm not talking just the "fated fail" of bothering to play all 52 games on that stupid cart, but don't some of the games freeze so you can't finish?

ditto to Dudes With Attitude. I like the game's concept and physics, but I think it would be a pain to beat all of those levels. Some of the other levels in the game are nightmarishly hard.
And yes, Action 52 is unwinnable. The combination of gliched/crappy unbeatable games makes it an impossible game to play with the intention of beating.

I can't believe the amount of people who insist that Contra is a hard game. If I don't beat it in one life then I certainly don't need to continue. Needing 30 lives is a total joke. I may or may not agree with all the rest listed but I can't ignore the ridiculousness of claiming Contra is hard.

How about Solstice? I never could finish it, just too long and no password, or save feature.
And unless your a maniac shooter fan, Silver Surfer is near impossible. I finished it, but only after I unlocked invincibility mode.
Oh, and speaking of unlicensed games, Rolling Thunder gets really difficult during the second half of the game.

I agree but the thing is that we think all games are good and we enjoy them all. About a year ago i thought that if i am gonna collect them all then we should beat them all. We want to see every game and we enjoy them all so what better way then to set a goal from it.

Yes we are. If there is no technical END to a game then we will just beat all we can about the game and show the results. For instance some of those color dreams games arent very rewarding, if they are at all, but we will get as far as possible in them. And for instance, in the case of action 52, since none of those games really end and some of them don't even play at all, we will show just how "BEAT" that game really is and maybe enlighten people to its story.

I totally agree! Me and my cousin used to be so good at it that we would beat it 5 times straight through without getting a game over. And the great part is that every time you start again they throw more and more baddies at you. By the 5th time around you can hardly move forward because you just have to stand and fight. Of course i have lost some of my edge on that game but i can still beat it no problem.

About a year ago i thought that if i am gonna collect them all then we should beat them all.Well, at least that much is vaguely admirable. But seriously, if you think that just because something is called a "game" means that it is good and that you should enjoy it, then you either have deeply limited experience or serious, serious issues.
Also, try not to triple-post. (I advise employing the board's "multi-quote" feature.)

Well limited experience is deffinitly out of the question so i am going to have to go with "Serious Issues" for 200 alex. We totally understand and know first hand that some games are complete crap, but we play them.... EACH AND EVERY ONE.

I'd argue the same thing about Kid Icarus... the game is a cakewalk after world 1-4. I've seen it on lists of "Top xx Hardest NES Games ever!" plenty of times, but I'd be damned if I beat SMB3 before Kid Icarus. My best run is not dying until 3-2 or 3-3. That, and having unlimited tries helps too.

I really love what you guys are attempting to do, and I think it's cool that you are creating this video diary of sorts with your progress.
Love the videos, but might I suggest you both talk briefly about your experience playing the game. Many of the games you will be playing are horrible, and It'd be interesting to listen to a synopsis of your adventure playing it.
GOOD LUCK!

Solstice is beatable, making a map helps and the game isn't as long as it seems to be.
I've also beaten the Simpsons games Space Mutants and World. Haven't played the other two long enough.

I enjoy playing all of my horrible games when friends are around to share my pain, but can only be bothered to play the good ones when I'm alone. I'm the sort of person who goes to horror movies to watch the audience as opposed to the movie, just to observe the various reactions people have to unpleasant things. I don't jump when a monster pops out of nowhere, but I get a thrill watching other people do it. I don't enjoy myself when I repeatedly die in a completely awful, unfair game, but I laugh uncontrollably when my friends shout long strings of profanity after doing so. I torture people with 8 Eyes and LJN games for my own enjoyment. I think I may need counseling...

Just sitting down to play a game like this to the end is no feat in and of itself. But think about how many crappy games they have to play to Beat them ALL. That is where the achievement comes in. I give them lots of credit. If they are going to beat them all, they will be forced to play doozies like this.

I've beaten Jekyll and Hyde. It bored the everloving hell out of me to do so, but I've done it. I'd say that it's not hard, per se, but it's just really, really annoying.
Now, to be fair, I've never gotten the "good" ending. That's a challenge for another time when I'm really, really bored.

Did you beat The Fantastic Adventures of Dizzy by Codemasters yet? It's considered one of the most interesting adventure games but is also one of the longest games to have to sit through without saving. I had it since I was 9 and didn't beat it for the first time till I was in high school.
The Genesis version might have 150 more stars but it is actually much easier (with the exception of the boss at the end) because the stars are actually quite close together and the items for specific areas are not scattered as far.

Hey all,
We wrapped up a great interview with the 8-Bit Adventurers that you won't want to miss. Find out more about their desire to beat every NES game. Find out what games were the hardest for them and what games were the most rewarding to finish. All this and much, much more.
You can hear it in our upcoming October podcast at http://www.RetroGamingRoundup.com.
I will post here when the podcast goes live.
