I was just going through some of my Genesis games that I had bought but never really looked at and noticed a big problem with my copy of A Dinosaur's Tale. It is a used Hollywood Video rental copy and they did one of the stupidest things I have seen. Of course all rental places put their stickers on the cart, but I guess at Hollywood, they wanted to make sure that you didn't lose or steal the manual. It looked rather ugly in the case and then I noticed that they had glued the back cover of the manual to the inside cover of the case. Way to go Hollywood Video! I guess it will help me keep my copy "complete". Anyone else have any anti-theft stories like that?

I've seen that one before. The worst thing ever for me tho is that some Blockbuster Videos would actually burn their name into the cart! This ain't cattle, guys.

I have a copy of Archon (NES) that has one of those rectangular security tag thingys UNDER THE GAME'S LABEL. I'll never figure out how or why they did that. My guess is that it was a rental game, but there are no stickers/writing on the cart that would lead me to think that.

Ex rentals are always in worse shape. Usually manual less too.

Dont forget the stains and random, relentless stickers all over the rental cartridges. For discs it is always scratch after scratch.

People treat rental games like shit.. It's basically all there is to it.

I used to get a kick out of the rental stickers on cart games that said to please rewind when finished.

A local video store I frequented used to drill a hole through the corner of each game cartridge, and tether the cartridge to the plastic rental case using a length of steel cable that was locked on each end with clasps. Still didn't stop all of the Squaresoft SNES carts from disappearing.
