Jonathan Blow's time-manipulating puzzle-platformer, Braid, is probably best associated with Xbox 360. According to a listing on Germany's USK ratings board website (http://usk.de/) (discovered by NeoGAF user Fortinbras) (http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=16919056&postcount=1), though, the game -- which falls under the organization's fancifully named "Jump 'n Run" category -- is finally headed to PlayStation 3.

Blow talked about the possibility of a PS3 version almost a year ago (http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/11/ps3-release-of-braid-might-happen-wiiware-not-happening/), saying that it could happen after a "limited exclusive" with Microsoft had ended. There's no indication when our #5 game of 2008 (http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/01/joystiqs-top-10-of-2008-braid/) will hit PSN, though it seems it will come via its PC publisher, Hothead Games. We've contacted Blow for more info; hopefully his answer comes running 'n jumping back to us soon.

Good for PS3 owners who never got a chance to enjoy it!

Easily one of the best modern interpretations of classic gameplay + esoteric alliterations of failed romance/relationships.

I thought all you did was run 'n' jump.

You'd think ... but the game is texturally/thematically layered like an onion.

One of the most interesting aspects of Braid was the books between levels.

Reading them was strictly optional, but if you did take the time to read them all you get this very segmented story of the troubled relationship of "Tim" and "The Princess". You never quite get enough to fully understand what's going on, but it's very well written stuff and worth taking the time to read through, even after you finish the game.

IMO The game is just a big allegory for how there's no way to "fix" a failed relationship, even if you could "go back in time", human nature is just too strong to allow you create a new outcome for a bad situation ... which is nothing new for fiction, but handled through the game's story/design/art/music in very clever ways ... Braid is equal parts a competent modern puzzle game and parody of many classic gaming conventions (ie "Sorry, our princess is in another castle.")

I loved Braid's graphical style and various gameplay mechanics, but the whole "books on pedestals" style of story delivery never really clicked for me. I'm sure there's probably a good story in there if you piece it all together, but mostly it just felt like I was reading captions for deviantArt submissions. After a certain point I just started walking past them and not really giving a shit anymore.

Still an excellent game though, of course.

I'm hoping for the day that Microsoft and Sony's gaming divisions merge. That way we go back down to two gaming companies instead of one.

Maybe merge together and still release PS360 titles together and then whatever the next gen system may be, co develop it. If you ask me, Microsoft will be getting a much better deal because Sony has far better first party developers under them.

Yeah, they are a bit of a chore to actually read ... but once you get past the pastiche emo stylings, I felt that they complimented the overall presentation nicely.
