Very cool stuff. :) If you're looking for a sponsor for your project, I'm sure my store (Rising Stuff, just pop it into Google) could give you some pretty good discounts (just about to list about 100 new megadrive games on Monday actually).
What's your favorite game so far? Find any lost gems yet?

Hi, that sounds pretty interesting. I could do with getting some more coverage for my channel and another good source for games would be great.
My fave game so far is Twinkle Tale, this is also what I class as my lost gem so far- never encountered the game "back in the day". Absolutely superb!
Just got an HD webcam and recorded 3 new gameplay vids with it, much better quality:

Yeah if you can get me a list of the games you're missing I can get you a price quote for each one so you can compare. :)

Well I've only got 60 games so far and 368 to get (well, 367 less Tetris).
What are the condition of your games like mate in general? I'm only collecting in mint condition or extremely close to that.
I've got about 10 or so games that I need replacements for..

All games have manuals and cases and are in excellent condition. Games we get that aren't in said condition are always marked as such. :) Fortunately, Mega Drive games are usually kept in pretty good condition by their Japanese hosts and we rarely get anything in that's in poor condition.
Also, my personal list of Mega Drive games shows 449 games. I wonder if I repeated a couple of games in it or something. Time for me to check it out.

Cool vids. You also reminded me that I need a copy of Ringside Angel for my wrestling collection. I had one but sold it due to it's subpar condition. I need to find a mint copy.

Great vids! Thinking about getting a Jap MD now!
Where do you mainly buy your games from, by the way?

i have to count, but i think i have about 160 MD games left (sold off a couple this year and last) and around 240-250 MD and Genesis games total. I put pics up a while back on another photo site, but it's been a while and i'll need to see if they're still out there.
good luck with the collecting - there are some spectacular games out there. qucik Q for you - are you also adding European MD and/or Japanese Mega CD games to your collection?

yeah, it sucks.Come to think of it, it might've been 50yen. Either way, I saved an inch of space on my shelve. That's almost half a Neo Geo game case!!!

passing over a game because you don't like a developer is always a bad idea - it's possible to miss a gen or two if you get too picky. Asmik (Ace) also published the Sidewinder series of flight combat games on the PS One and Astro Trooper Vanark, a cool 3D shooter that has a sci-fi TV vibe throughout and some pretty slick 3D visuals. there are a couple of other Asmik games that are OK, but after about 20 years of collecting, I've learned to appreciate more stuff than a lot of folks, i guess...
Oh - Ringside Angel isn't a terrible game at all. it's no great shakes as a wrassler if you take the "sport" too seriously, but it's FAR from the worst game in the genre. if you're into novelties and cute gals in games, it's a fun buy if you get it cheap. plus, that lenticular cover is pretty neat.

I'm more interested in people actually playing the games and sharing their thoughts about them. From what I see, the focus here is more on "bookcase full of games," that doesn't give me the right impression.

I'm not sure how you mean, Ed. Willy has put up a ton of gameplay vids so he obviously plays the games he buys. I think his focus is more on showing other people what certain games are like than giving a review or just talking about his own experience.

Then why is the one category (which is really big, now that I look at it) on his homepage called "mini reviews?" (Add an extra apostrophe.) I gotta say, I'm not a fan of that layout or color scheme because I missed that what looked like the latest five videos to me are actually his five playlists.
That said, I watched much of the "mini review" of Ah! Harimanada, and found it pretty helpful. Wouldn't mind if it was a digest form so it wasn't 8 minutes long, and a lot of the talking is superfluous (in my opinion) though. It is hard to talk and game well at the same time though.

Dont really see where your coming from with this Ed- 62 of my videos are my "mini reviews" where I feature the games in my collection (still got tons more to do).
So its hardly like all the videos are showing my "bookcase full of games"- in fact only 3-4 of them videos focus on my collection- that's out of my total 130+ videos.
Just to clarify things- my "mini reviews" are purely to give a brief overview of the game and I'll also mention my thoughts from back in the day (if I played the game). They arent meant to be anything in depth- they are just there to maybe catch sometimes attention so they think "actually I might pick that up" etc... I play the game and share my thoughts- just like you mention.
I take on board the "superfluous" point but I'm no professional here- this is just my hobby and I'm sharing my passion. I could record the audio separately but I prefer to do it whilst I play the game since it feels more real to me- this is also the same reason why I use a Sony CRT with my MD rather than LCD etc.. just like it was back in the day.
Also I know the colour scheme can be hard to make out on some monitors but it matches the "feel" of the Mega Drive for me and I really like it- but I am biased!
