So hey every1 I just bought a GBA Sp AGS-101 in pearl pink for $15. It was the cheapest one I could find (The color lol). Im looking around ebay and I was planning on changing the casing on it so its silver even though thats not one of the original machine colors. I just think like wow look its some 20 year old guy playing a pink gameboy. Should I do this or just leave it alone. I mean this one is just for playing games and the case is in pretty fucked up conditions. Heres a link on the product im talking bout

not for the ags-101. the black/grey one is but not the silver.

Ya thats the original color for the ags-001 not the ags-101.

The 101 is the later model with the backlit screen. Im pretty sure I know what im talking bout I read about it in some post here in Digit Press that those were the original colors

Just for clarification...the backlit SP is model AGS-101

Hmm, I thought AGS-101 was the frontlit one. Either way, I've read that someone has successfully put an AGS-001 case on an AGS-101 model. The upper case needs to be carved in a bit to fit the extra space the backlight takes up, from what I am aware of. Either way, be prepared for a tough operation. Anything with a hinge is a ***** to operate on.

i can only imagine! If its too much work Im good at airbrushing and ill paint it some cool color, I did it with a fucked up GBC. I think I can do it with a GBA

Why not take it into a used game store and see if you can do a flat out trade? They may not do it but it seems to me that they'd want to keep pink ones in stock for the girly gamers.

Idk ill check its kinda ruffed up but I bet they would trade it. I was at FYE today and they had brand new ags-001 models for 29.99 brand new but It they didnt have the ags-101

I think Nintendo still sells replacement kits for the screen cover. You might want to pick one up to go along with the new shell.
Personally, I would just take it apart and paint/dye the case a different color, maybe a color that no SP has ever had, like brown.

No they dont even sell them anymore. Idk ill probably order them or something since the store is like 40 miles away from my house. They will probably go for even cheaper soon since all the games are on clearance. Ill probably call the store and then make a friend that lives nearby go pick it up and then ill see him at the gym or something. They had really shit games though

Is there any modification needed to swap internals from a 001 to a 101 or are all the boards etc standard? I'm wanting to swap my Classic NES case 001 so it has the nice screen when I find a 101 guts donor.

Oooo thats another good idea. I got a mentally challenged friend who offered me his NES GBA (havent picked it up yet) its in really nice condition thats a good idea. From what I understand you have to break some stuff in the top part of the casing so it has space for the backlit screen. Idk

btw look on ebay for the pink ones which go for pretty cheap. Try to look for one buy it now (most of the time you dont but on my occasion it was cheaper than the auction going on) I got the pink one for $15 :) with charger
