Old Mac printers shouldn't be worth much, although all I've got is an old StyleWriter II (from the Mac Classic years, could be a few years newer than what's in that lot at least). If you're going to have the lot shipped, you probably will want to leave it out. If you're picking it up you may as well take it.

As for the offer...I dunno, throw any ol' estimate out there. There IS a lot of pretty desirable stuff in there though, but this being Craigslist it's up to him to be greedy and demand more, or accept an offer. I'd start with $100, and if it sounds like he's going to try to drive a hard bargain on you, you can revise it upwards a bit. No sense paying within a bleeding hair of the games' eBay value right off the bat (I'd actually try $50 myself, but only 'cuz I be poor ;) ). It sounds like he's expecting a lot more though.

Nah, it's local to me. I just would think a printer would take up space and drive the price up. eBay is not being much help here, the prices are exorbitant:

Here's something similar to what I'm looking at, though:

I would buy the computer if I had the money.

I think the computer itself is supposed to be off-white.

$50.00 would be my opening offer but make sure to let them know you're genuinely interested so you don't get instantly dismissed. It's pretty cool that a lot of the software is CIB and/or authentic releases. However remember that you're going to have at least a few bad disks. Good news is that ADTPro (http://adtpro.sourceforge.net/) opens the world of vintage Apple II software to you.

I picked up a really nice IIe lot last week for $40.00 and I sleep better at night knowing that if my copy of Prince of Persia or Montezuma's Revenge decides to take a dump I can just send over a fresh copy from my computer to the Apple IIe, write it to a disk, and be ready to go again.

Very interesting, I like to make copies of all of my programs anyway. I forgot to mention that the lot includes some blank floppies, too.

Oh, and here's some other interesting Apple II developments, a cable that allows you to hook up an Apple II to a normal VGA monitor (or a TV with VGA ports):

Ah, according to Wikipedia, the color was officially called "Fog", not white or off-white.

There's a whole article on how Apple designed their computers until the early 90's, apparently lots of ventilation ports and white makes things look smaller:

I always found the IIc to be my favorite Apple computer. It just looks nice and, with the screen, is all designed very well. It was a good idea too at the time. A semi-cheap, powerful computer compatability with a large library of software in a small package that is usable out of the box.

$50 would be a steal for that lot if those games really do have the box/dox for them. There's probably a few hundred dollars of stuff there.

Wait, I just checked the email, Alice in Wonderland to Writer File/Pak are loose but come with manuals.

That's another cool thing about ADTPro, you can send data the other way as well. You can make a .dsk image of a floppy in the drive, effectively making a hard copy of games with saved data, character disks, pretty much anything. Then you can archive your stuff in a less volatile format than aging 5.25" floppies.

The real trip is you can play a game on your Apple II, send the disk over to your modern computer with ADTPro and make a .dsk file of it, resume play via an Apple II emulator (if you're traveling for instance), then when you get back send the .dsk file back over to a 5.25" floppy in your Apple II drive, and then resume play on the actual hardware. It only takes about 20 seconds to send the data via a serial connection and the ADTPro application basically runs as a silent server on the host computer. It's a strange to have computers that are 30 years apart directly connected to one another and sharing files.

So all I need is a cable from the ADTPro website and the program and then I can backup and save programs?

Awesome.

For a IIc, yeah. For a IIe you just need a standard serial cable and a Super Serial Card (or the modern clone they sell).

Well, it turns out they wanted $200 for it all. I figured I would just respond to some other ads, most notably about a 512ke Macintosh, I'll get an Apple II later, I guess.

If you just want an Apple II, I'll bet you can find one for $40 or less. The reason that one's $200 is, my god, that software collection. If you figure $5 per boxed game that lot's worth $300+, and a lot of those titles (King's Quest, etc) would sell for much more. For resell value I'm guessing that lot would go for $400-$500. $200's definitely not a bad deal, if you're into collecting software.

As for the question about printers ... ugh. I seem to attract them and can never get rid of them. I tried giving them away at the last OVGE and couldn't.

Where is this stuff located? If you are going to pass on it, mind sharing the ad? I would love to get my hand on all that software :)

Um, I deleted the conversation, sorry.

It's located in St. Louis, anyway. Try looking for blank 5.25 inch floppies and use the ADTPro software.

If those games are all boxed like I think it said I don't think that $500 would be an unreasonable offer. Like with most consoles the games are worth more than the computer itself and there's a lot of collectible and hard to find games in that lot. Sure the guy may not know what he has and may take $100 but if he were to sell the lot on eBay (with pictures) I'm thinking at least $500
