WHERE ARE THEY?
Where are the rest??
Sega has such an amazing backlog of arcade hits that many people would open their wallet for. Imagine Daytona USA arcade perfect or redone graphics in 720P with full wheel support? I would drop $10-$20 on that in a heart beat!
I really do not understand why this is not happening :(

We had pretty much damn near that on the Dreamcast (enhanced graphics, full wheel support, four player online multiplayer) and yet I still recall consistently playing against the same dozen or so people on the SegaNet every day.

The Dreamcast versions still were not arcade perfect ports. Plus online gaming has become alot more popular. Lastly, my Logitech G25 wheel kills anything that was released for Dreamcast.

I really do not understand why you would create such a misleading thread title.

I'd be happy just to have Outrun Online Arcade available on the US PSN.

Agreed. I am still waiting for an Arcade port of Daytona 2 to come out in the states

Agreed. Although I will say I'd be tempted to buy a 360 port of the DC's Daytona (or maybe even the arcade version if it had 40-player multi support, but that's pretty unlikely)... the game rocked, and I was pretty good at it online.

Actually, I'm sure both will come out at some point, but I think that since we just got OutRun, it'll probably be next year before we get another big Sega racer.

Not sure why your so confident, besides the modern arcade title Outrun 2 and it's expanded release, and Outrun, Hang-On, and Super Hang-On being included on a few things several years ago, Sega ignores it's back catalog of arcade racers.
There isn't any evidence that even hints we'll ever see things like Scud Race on home consoles. Though I hope it does happen eventually.

Speaking of Sega arcade racers ... Am I the only Outrun fan who didn't hate Outrunners?

No sir. OutRunners was AWESOME in the arcade. The Genesis version just totally sucks as a single player game, but the 2-player mode was pretty fun back in the day. They need to get OutRunners, as well as Turbo OutRun up on Live/PSN along with all the ones already mentioned. It's a shame they haven't. I don't get Sega's suits, but neither do the people who work there. What a bunch of dimwits.

I'm with klausien. Genesis OutRunners blew in comparison to arcade. The arcade game looks and sounds great with all the pros of being a true sequel to OutRun. I'm quite glad it works in some versions of MAME as otherwise cabs of OutRunners nature long disappeared from around these parts.

I'm a big fan of Turbo Outrun and Outrunners as well. Its too bad the Genesis ports of both sucked.
The Genesis couldn't even really handle Outrun, its very strange playing it without the sound of your engine. I'm surprised they even attempted to port Outrunners on the platform.

I want every SEGA Model 2 and Model 3 racer ported to Xbox360, PS3 and Wii
(yes even the Wii is more powerful than Model 3).
Daytona USA
Indy 500
Sega Rally
Sega Touring Car
Scud Race / Sega Super GT
Daytona USA 2 - Battle On The Edge & Power Edition
Sega Rally 2
Dirt Devils
etc etc.
One important thing, besides getting everything arcade perfect visually and control-wise, is having SYSTEM-LINK or local multi-player play. Not split-screen. This would be important to preserve the arcade-like experience of racing against other people, which cannot be provided via online play or split-screen play.

Planet Harriers would be a perfect fit for the Wii, but I'll take it on any console of course! Another sadly underplayed game. I got to play it 2 times in 2 different arcades around the time of its release. Both arcades are now gone. It was rumored for both the DC & GC, but it never happened. What a shame.

As I said, Daytona USA on the Dreamcast (AKA Daytona USA 2001) was an enhanced remake. It wasn't supposed to be a port, it was to surpass and combine everything from the classic Daytona USA releases that came before it. Granted I still like the original arcade Daytona USA just a hair more, but Dreamcast Daytona USA was a loving tribute to one of the greatest arcade games ever developed, that really could have used some better promotion when it was released.

There are some decent Model 2 emulators out there these days as well as support for games like Virtua Racing in MAME. It still won't be the same however, even if you get perfect ports and online network games going. To me a huge part of why system link arcade driving games are fun is because your opponents are sitting right next to you - from the days of when Final Lap first showed up to playing eight player RUSH 2049 SE at California Extreme just last month. The human interaction in the same general area is what makes them truly entertaining.

I read the thread title on Digital Press, then immediately rushed off to the bank to deposit the appropriate amount of quarters for my impending game purchase.
Then I came back after five o'clock to read the thread. Alas; I discovered that there was no game to be purchased, and as a result I will not be eating steak tonight, but dogfood in milk. I HAVE BEEN GREATLY INCONVENIENCED BY THIS THreAD
lol @ people
Anyhow, I agree that Sega should get their stuff together and port some of these. I'd be happy with PC myself (have a USB steering wheel).

With the lower resolution of many of the sprite-based 3D racers, it wouldn't be too hard to set up a pretty good facsimile of the late '80s Sega classics as splitscreen on HDTVs. Other than that, I think that something with multiplayer is better than nothing.
