my slim ps2 was knocked down a few times last week by people tripping over it, it was only a foot high. i went to turn it on today and couldnt get it to power up, the lights dont even turn on. the power brick thing, made a noise when i plugged it back in, but that was all i got.

Sure sounds dead to me, I'd suggest placing your replacement console (And it's controller cords if that's what they caught) in a location where people can't trip on it.

I doubt it's something worthwhile even trying to repair, I'd just trade it into a GameStop if i were you and put it towards a replacement (I believe they accept trade ins for consoles that aren't functioning correctly and then refurbish them, but I'm unsure). The cost of having Sony or someone else repair it is likely to come close to the cost of just buying a brand new console.

If you'd like to eliminate controller cords from your replacement, this officially licensed PS2 wireless controller is great and blows away the Logitech releases.

something probably broke inside the brick and when you plugged it back in it shorted and thats what you heard. Actually I dropped my SMS cord a few months back, cracked it wide open and it never worked again.

i would get another power thing first. could be just that. they shouldn't be much money used and stuff i wouldn't think. might be able to find some new ones too for good prices if look around. i know this might be common sense but the the simple fixes are over looked sometimes. if it was the ps2 at least you have a backup power supply now.
